Hazrat Khawaja Sharfuddin Chishti (R.A.)
Hazrat Khawaja Sharfuddin Chishti (R.A.), was the second born son of Khawaja Gharib-E-Newaj Hazrat Shah Khaja Mainuddin Chishti (R.A) and Hazrat Bibi Ismat. He was born on in 1230 A.D. in Ajmer Sharif, Rajasthan, India.
After the death of Khawaja Mainuddin Chishti (R.A.) in the year 1236 A.D., the 5 year old Sharfuddin Chishti was raised by his elder brother Hazrat Khwaja Fokor Uddin Abul Khair Chishti (R.A.). Subsequently, in his teenage years, Sharfuddin Chisti became a pupil of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia (R.A.).
In the year 1265 A.D., Sharfuddin Chisti's elder brother Fokor Uddin Abul Khair Chishti became a martyr in a war against terrorist groups seeking to oppress the muslims of AJmer Sharif. The death of his elder brother and guardian deeply affected Sharfuddin Chisti and he decided to leave Ajmer Sharif at the age of 45. At this stage, it is said that his father, Khaja Mainuddin Chishti appeared in his dreams one night, and advised him to travel towards east and serve the cause of Islam. Thereafter, Sharfuddin Chisti started travelling towards Delhi on foot.
Upon his arrival in Delhi, Sharfuddin Chisti came to know that a group of 12 men led by Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.A.), under the instruction of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia, had started their journey to the east. Sharfuddin Chisti travelled on foot to Samarkand and joined the convoy led by Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.A.).
Thereafter, Hazrat Shahjalal (R.A.) entered the area of Sylhet, Bangladesh, along with 360 Walis the year 1303 A.D and was stationed there for a period of 2 years, helping to spread the message of Islam. It should be noted that Hazrat Sharfuddin Chisti's original name is said to have been Hazrat Husham Uddin Chisti. However, during this 2 year period, when Hazrat Shahjalal (R.A.) came to know that he was the son of the great Khawaja Mainuddin Chishti (R.A.), it was Hazrat Shahjalal (R.A.) himself who bestowed the name "Sharfuddin".
Thereafter, in the year 1305 A.D., under the instructions of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.A.), Sharfuddin Chisti started his journey towards south on a boat. He came to know that people in the locality of a village called Ramna were being oppressed, and he started off towards that destination in the hopes of spreading the message of Islam.
His boat reached the end of a canal bank, and Sharfuddin Chisti (R.A) immediately chose the spot as his shelter. The area was secluded and and in the midst of a jungle. It is said that the river bank where his boat had arrived is where the High Court Eidgah is situated, within the present day premises of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. The place of his initial shelter, is where the present day mosque and the shrine is located. The shrine is populalry referred to as the "High Court Mazar".
In the year 1306 A.D., Hazrat Sharfuddin Chishti (R.A.) began to spread the word of Islam from his shelter. His dedication, kindness, compassion and character paved way for the message of Islam to be spread and accepted in the locality - resulting in hundreds and hundreds of people to convert into Muslims. The spread of Islam in the modern day capital of Bangladesh - Dhaka can be largely attributed to this great Wali. Hazrat Sharfuddin Chisti (R.A.) was bestowed the title of "Oli E Bangla" (The Wali of Bangla).
Hazrat Sharfuddin Chishti (R.A.) passed away in 1340 A.D.

This is very oldest mosque in Dhaka city. So many people like to coming here for prayer. Hazrat Shah Sharfuddin Chisti RA established this mosque.
