The Haque Bakery Proprietary, an old Dhaka based local traditional baking establishment, founded in 1950 by the discovery of a young entrepreneur belonging to a family of zamindars ( landlords ) from an estate of Brahmanbaria. Al-Haj M.A. Haque had been a famous, pious and very highly respectable figure in the area called Tikatuly, located near the modern business district Motijheel. He was honored by many top profiled people because of his great loyalty, honesty, practical lifestyle and exceptional mind. He was inspired by hearing the story of his grandfather and great grandfather, who were very influential and religious zamindars during British period in an estate of Brahmanbaria. Hajee Basuruddin Sarkar zamindar pilgrimaged to Mecca in British period. In 1950, as a teenager he initiated to set up an agro business hence rented a factory in Bongshal, Dhaka. In order to raise popularity and awareness, he began operation in few other places in the areas of old Dhaka. It had been one of the most famous bakery from 1950's to till 1970's in Bangladesh and earned a revenue of taka 20 crores in those years according to an estimation in 2002. At the beginning in 1980's, the concern faces competitors so that it stop's focusing on the business particularly because of losing control over market domination of traditional bakery products but it kept running the business in low investment to hold the tradition.
