  Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University is a University of Bangladesh. It is the first science and technology university of Rangpur Division. It was named after the father of Tebhaga Movement and the leader of the peasantry of the region, Haji Mohammad Danesh. It is the best university in North Bengal which is the leading among science and technology universities.
  
  Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University started in 1976 as the Agricultural Extensibility Training Institute (AETI) which provided diploma degree in agriculture. On 11 November 1988, it was upgraded to the Agricultural College. It was then affiliated college of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. 11 September 1999 This college is declared as a university. This is the University Day. In 2000, the "University of Science and Technology University Scheme" was adopted to upgrade the university to university. On 8 July 2001 Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University passed the law. The University was established on 8 April 2002 with the approval of the Honorable President. On 16th April formal educational activities were started. Eminent soil scientist Professor Md. Mosharraf Hossain Mihan is the first Vice Chancellor of the University. It is the first science and technology university of north Bengal, Rangpur Division. The medium of instruction in this university is English. Operated in the course-credit-semester system. At present, 9 subjects are certified in 23 subjects, among which there are 22 subjects in 8 faculties and one faculty in the post-graduate level at the undergraduate level. At present, the campus area is 130 acres.
