Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense is an Emergency Service Agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. All activities of this organization are dedicated to the service of the people. The then British government created fire service in undivided India in 1939-40. In the partition, regional Bengal created Bengal Fire Service for Bengal in Bengal. In 1947, the region's fire service was called East Pakistan Fire Service. In 1951, Civil Defense Department was created in the legal process.

In 1982, the Directorate of Fire Service, Civil Defense Directorate and the Directorate of Rehabilitation of Roads and Highways Department, the Department of Fire Services and Civil Defense is formed in coordination with these three departments.
