It is one of the bigest and oldest mandir (place of prayer for the Hindus). The name Dhaka city came from the name of Dhakwshwari. "Dhak" a musical instrument, was used for there prayer. From the name "Dhak" we called this area dhaka. after sevaral name changing this city again got its old name Dhaka.

Dhakeshwari National Temple (ঢাকেশ্বরী জাতীয় মন্দির ) is a famous Hindu temple in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is state-owned, giving it the distinction of Bangladesh's "National Temple". The name "Dhakeshwari" (ঢাকেশ্বরী Ðhakeshshori) means "Goddess of Dhaka". The temple is located southwest of the Salimullah Hall of Dhaka University. Since the destruction of Ramna Kali Mandir in 1971 by the Pakistan Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Dhakeshwari Temple has assumed status as the most important Hindu place of worship in Bangladesh.

National Temple of Bangladesh. Environment is so nice. They also have an auditorium for hindu marriage and other ceremony. Although this is a hindu temple, every regional person have access to the temple but you must have to be polite there and must obey every rules and regulations of the temple.

No proper covers for protection from rains. Place gets very messy and dirty, spoiling the heavenly environment. Approach roads are totally chaotic due to the notorious Dhaka traffic jam, which none are bothering to attend to.
