The History of the Chittagong Club Ltd. may be traced from the year 1875 when Mr. W. A. Campbell a well-known Tea Planter of that period started a club in that year. It was placed at the disposal of only the Tea Planters of the District but they had to make their own arrangement both for servant and food during their stay.
Chittagong Club is a family Club, keeping in mind to maintain the traditional culture of our society, during his tenure he started to send meals to the members of the bereaved families on purely compassionate rounds, from the Club Catering Section, to discourage and prevent unauthorized persons entry into the club new technological Identity Card (Proximity Card) with Bar Code for members, their spouse and Children were introduced.

One should know the amazing fact that Chittagong Club's registration is done with undivided India during British rule ( 1875, W A Campbell a well known tea planter). Beautiful property and amazingly good service. You cannot get the old charm anywhere else. Great three tennis courts, indoor badminton court, swimming pool unless you come and visit you'll not know!

WW Campbell , a tea planter in the region opened club in his lodge in Chittagong in 1875. It was designed to be used by other European planters in the region. The club was converted to Chittagong Club on 23 August 1878. The club was open to only Europeans.The first Honorary Secretary of the club was R. D. Murray.[1]

The importance and growth of Chittagong city lead to an increase in the number of Europeans in the City. The club was moved to new location to accommodate the new residents. The Club moved to Pioneer Hill, the location of tea plantation founded in 1840. The land was rented to the club by Rai Nityananda Rai Bahadur, a Zamindar. On the 27th March 1901 the club was opened at the new location. The club was registered as a company in 1908. Till 1947 membership was open to only Europeans.[1]

The club is located on a major hilltop overlooking the city of Chittagong and the Karnaphuli River.

Chittagong Club Ltd. is a very well known club among the people here. It was built 160 years back and still going strong. Usually only club members are allowed to use the facilities at the club but foreign travellers are allowed to enter the club premise provided they bear the passports along with them.
