1600 year old mosque in Lalmatia built by people during Shaista Khan's (mughal governor) period. The pool of this mosque are cleaned once a month. And on friday they provide good khudbahs. The mosque was first named as Bibi Masjid but changed to Lalmatia Shahi masjid during pakistan war.

This is a historical mosque that dates back to Mughal Period, around 200 years old. The central part of the masjid still holds the basic structure although now it has been extended greatly. I have been living in this area, Lalmatia, since 2001 and I am fortunate to see a large number of modifications. Now the masjid is 3 storey tall with fully air conditioned ground floor. It has a big pond west of it where they farm fishes and are sold on auction once a month or two months. North of it is the open space, Eidgah, for Eid prayers. Further north is the Madrasah. Cars can be parked in the open space.

The Tomb of Dara Begum, built on the east bank of a huge pond nearly three acres in size in what is now Lalmatia Block F, is variously known as Shahi Masjid or Bibir Majid to the locals.

This, converted and extended in a huge multi-storied mosque with sales/display center at semi-basement level, is part of the Jamia Islamia Madrashah complex, and the pond is used for PC- culture as a source of income. Traditionally the tomb is ascribed either to a daughter of Shaista Khan or to the wife of a Subahdar before him. ছয়’শ বছর পুরানো বিনত বিবি মসজিদটি কালের সাক্ষী হয়ে মাথা উঁচু করে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে পুরান ঢাকার নারিন্দায়। ঢাকার প্রথম এই মসজিদটি ঢাকার সবচেয়ে পুরানো স্থাপত্য নিদর্শনগুলোর একটি। মসজিদটি ইসলাম খাঁ আগমনের প্রায় দেড়শ বছর আগে ১৪৫৭ খ্রিস্টাব্দে সুলতান নাসিরুদ্দিন মাহমুদ শাহের শাসনামলে নির্মাণ করা হয়। সে সময় পারস্য উপসাগরের আশেপাশের লোকজন প্রায়ই জলপথে এ অঞ্চলে আসতেন বাণিজ্যের কাজে। আরাকান আলী নামক এক সওদাগর সে সময় এ এলাকায় বাণিজ্যের জন্য আসেন এবং এখানেই বসবাস শুরু করেন। নামাজ পড়ার সুবিধার্থে তিনিই একসময় এখানে মসজিদটি নির্মাণ করেছিলেন। এখানে বসবাসকালীন আরাকান আলীর মেয়ে বিনত বিবির আকস্মিক মৃত্যু হলে এই মসজিদের পাশেই কবর দেয়া হয় এবং পরবর্তীতে আরাকান আলীর মৃত্যু ঘটলে তাকেও এখানেই কবর দেয়া হয়। আরাকান আলীর কন্যা বিনত বিবির নামে পরবর্তীতে মসজিদটির নামকরণ করা হয়। মসজিদের দেয়ালে একটি কালো পাথরে এই ইতিহাস ফার্সি ভাষায় খোদাই করা আছে।

An old fashioned mosque with six feet by six feet pillars. Now a days, ground floor is mostly air conditioned. A highly reputed Islamic School (Madrasa) is attached here. A big pond is at the west of the mosque. Lalmatia is an expensive (land price) area in Dhaka but this mosque acquired pretty large area. This mosque is nearly four hundred years old.
