This is an important rail way Station connecting Eastern and western parts of Bangladesh. All the trains go through this Station have stoppage here. Even the trains pass through the Bangabandhu Bridge must have a quick check if the train is ok. Bangabandhu Setu East Station has not much structural facilities. Its surrounding is not so much well. This place remains crowded with passengers for both trains and buses. Beside the Station, there is a park for the visitors. There is no hotels and restaurant around this but some small tea stalls.

One of the most vital station for connection toward north Bengal. This station is just before Bangabondhu Setu. Most Intercity trains are from Dhaka - North Bengal - Dhaka. Only free local trains are there which goes to Mymensing, Jamalpur, Chittagong.

Trains going to use the bangabandhu Multipurpose Bridge have to wait here to make sure that,no train is on the track of the bridge while it will go moving towards the bridge for crossing.
