Balaka Cinema Hall is a cinematic landmark steeped in the history of Dhaka. Established in the early 1960s, it has been a witness to the evolving cultural landscape of Bangladesh’s capital. With its modern façade typical of the era, Balaka Cinema Hall stands to the east of Dhaka New Market, a testament to the golden age of Bangladeshi cinema. It was a time when celluloid reels spun tales of drama and romance, and the silver screen was a window to worlds unknown. The hall has seen generations of moviegoers pass through its doors, seeking the magic of the movies. Despite the rise of digital cinemas, Balaka retains its charm, continuing to draw crowds with its nostalgic allure and its dedication to the cinematic arts. It is more than just a movie theater; it is a piece of Dhaka’s history, a sanctuary for film lovers, and a keeper of stories told and untold.

It gives a nostalgic feeling, with its decoration, of its heyday when watching movie at cinema hall was considered part of elite lifestyle and still maintains many of those customs. However, the service needs to be improved. It has a nice washroom.

Balaka is one if the oldest #cinema hall. It is located in the opposite of the Dhaka new market. The hall has huge seat capacity. The seats are not in good condition unfortunately. The screen is not above the average. The sound is average. No foods sold on the spot but you bring snacks or #popcorn by yourself.

It is cheap and nice. Its is perfect place for enjoying movies specially for students. Point to be noted that, adult movies shouldn't be seen by children. I have visited this for watching DHAKA ATTACK. On Fridays, it is little bit hard to have tickets easily. you should buy your ticket early 8/9 am if you want to enjoy morning show at 10 am.
