Army Welfare Trust, commonly referred as AWT, is a company limited by guarantee and licensed under section#28 of the Companies Act 1994. AWT was incorporated as on 8th June 1998 with the Register of Joint Stock Companies which was essentially a trust for the welfare of the veterans, the armed forces pensioners, widows and their dependents.
Army Personnel retire comparatively at an early age than civilians in service. After retirement it becomes difficult on the part of ex-servicemen to maintain their families with small amount of pension. So, they seek employment. Moreover a large number of ex-servicemen are retiring with technical training in various fields. Since, employment scope is limited; they are not getting any employment after retirement. So, re-settlement of the ex-servicemen is imperatively necessary. With this keeping in view “Army Welfare Trust” is established for re-settlement of ex-Army Personnel with its registered Head Office in Dhaka Cantonment area.
