A mouth watering sweet snacks - "Monda". Not only famous at Muktagacha, but It's all over the Bangladesh. Locally known Muktagacha Monda. Its very tasty sweet snacks. Make materials milk and Sugar. Two hundreds years ago, Gopal pal start to make monda.

I have visited this shop many many times, they are selling a especial sweets called "Monda". It's a very popular sweets in Mymensingh and all over the Country. The shop selling this especial sweets around 200 Years and the founder of the store Mr. Gopal Pal got this secret recipe on dream and they kept it secret; still now it's a secret and only Pal family knows that. I this delicious sweets and have many many times.

With a great history of more than hundred and fifty years, this shop is famous for its great piece of sweet, called monda. I had one and it was really great. A mouth watering piece of sweet will definitely blow your mind. If you come to Muktagacha, this is a must to try. Have one and thank me later.

Revolving stages, a decrepit old heritage home and the mouth watering sweet Monda, a day trip to the eastern part of Bangladesh, a place called Muktagacha was an enticing prospect. Muktagacha is famous for housing the prestigious Bangladesh Agricultural University as well as historic zamindar bari (landlord house) that dates back roughly 300 years ago. Popularly known as the Muktagacha Rajbari, the zamindars(landlords) that lived here used their influence during the colonial era of the British, after 1757 AD, to grow quite a stronghold. With an estimated 99 elephants, the landlord hired French and British architects to design various features of their palatial house.
Yet, tourists often make a day trip to Muktagacha to not only visit these important attractions, but to simply eat one of the most famous desserts in Bangladesh: the Muktagacha Monda. A grainy sort of soft yogurt patty, when you bite into it the individual granules of the cooked yogurt they separate, filling the mouth with their sweet goodness.response / report this review -

মন্ডা নিয়ে একটি কিংবদন্তি রয়েছে। ময়মনসিংহ শহর থেকে ১৬ কিলোমিটার দূরে মুক্তাগাছা। দুই শতাধিক বছর আগে মুক্তাগাছার প্রসিদ্ধ মন্ডার জনক গোপাল পাল এক রাতে স্বপ্নাদিষ্ট হলেন। শিয়রে দাঁড়িয়ে এক ঋষি তাকে আদেশ দিচ্ছেন মন্ডা মিষ্টি তৈরি কর। পরদির গোপাল ঋষির আদেশে চুল্লি খনন শুরু করলেন। দৈবাৎ উদয় হলেন সাধু। তিনি হাত বুলিয়ে দিলেন চুল্লিতে। শিখিয়ে দিলেন মণ্ডা তৈরির কলাকৌশল গোপালকে। দুধ ও চিনি দিয়ে তৈরি হলো মন্ডা। গোপাল তার নব উদ্ভাবিত মন্ডা পরিবেশন করলেন তৎকালীন মুক্তাগাছার জমিদার মহারাজা সূর্যকান্ত আচার্য চৌধুরীর রাজদরবারে। মন্ডা খেয়ে মহারাজা পেলেন পরম তৃপ্তি , আর বাহবা দিলেন গোপালকে। মুক্তাগাছার গোপাল পালের মন্ডা। শুরু হলো মণ্ডার যাত্রা। গোপাল সম্বন্ধে জানা যায়, বাংলা ১২০৬ সালে তৎকালীন ভারতবর্ষের মুর্শিদাবাদে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। নবাব সিরাজদৌলার মৃত্যুর পর গোপাল মাতৃভূমি রাজশাহীতে চলে আসেন। পরে বাংলা ১২৩০ সালে তিনি মুক্তাগাছায় বসত গড়েন। প্রথম মণ্ডা তৈরি হয় বাংলা ১২৩১ সালে।
আমার কয়েকবার খাওয়ার সৌভাগ্য হয়েছে। খেতে বেশ সুস্বাধু।response / report this review -

Amazing taste of monda that makes happy to all. There are two types of monda, one made of sugar and another made of date juice. The shop is giving their services for 3rd generation.

This shop is for it's special desert item called 'monda' and it has a history behind it's popularity.
This 'monda' was actually made for the honor of the zaminder and the man 'Gopal pal' cooked this with a special process. As it was only for the highness of the zaminder, any normal people even the founder wasn't able to have this sweets.
