Went for afternoon tea, as in the Barbados hand book it was advertised as a good place for afternoon tea!!! This is not the case we asked for afternoon tea, and that's all we got a cup of tea! Apparently they don't do it anymore. Not worth the visit.
The cafe is open (2017) and with a purchase you can enter the sanctuary and see the mangrove swamp and birds. Quiet, peaceful, delightful! The owner is in a dispute with the Government of Barbados because they have blocked the drainage access to the ocean and so the swamp is becoming gradually less salty as it fills with rain water (mangroves needs briny water to survive). This is the last mangrove swamp on the island so your support of the sanctuary and its birds and fish is important!
Helpful staff. Sanctuary no longer open. Expensive food. Available grounds well maintained with views of the swamp.
