Amazing surfing lesson from Seb at Dread or Dead. I met them the day before at their shop in Hastings where they have big selection of surfer kit - rash vests, sand shoes etc. The following day we met at the shop and went to a great surf spot 15 minutes drive up the coast. Nice easy waves, mostly sand and a great lesson. Seb got us all up on a board at least once and taught us the basics. I went with my 13-year-old son and his best mate and they both really enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try out surfing.

Fantastic experience with lessons. Instructors tailor the lesson to your skill level, and the focus is almost 100% on being in the water and catching waves. Russell (owner) is a phenomenal teacher and person. Highly recommend. It's flexible enough to book a single day and then decide if you need a second lesson or just the rental afterwards.

If its surf kit/equipment you want then these are the guys you go to! Surfboards, leashes, boards etc

It is probably one of the last true surf shops on the planet.

I was on a stop over in Barbados last week and decided to stay a few days. Was thinking of trying surfing and as fate would have it I happened across Dread or Dead. I'd never surfed in my life before and was slightly intimidated by the whole surfing scene, but Russell said he helps a lot of people to surf from scratch.
I was able to get up on the board my first lesson and ended up surfing two more days. It only took a few hours each day so didn't get in the way of any other plans and also Russell picked me up and dropped me back to the guesthouse I was staying at in St James. By the third day Russell was teaching me how to spot waves and how to turn the board whilst on a wave. He even helped me get a few shots on my GoPro!

The guys even give you some sunscreen if you need and an anti-rash surfing top to use.

All in all the experience was truly amazing. It's openend my mind to surfing and I will try to continue it in future.

Thanks a lot Dread or Dead! You guys are awesome!
