BARBADOS! BARBADOS! BARBADOS! WE BAGGED ONE GOLD AND ONE BRONZE MEDAL ON DAY TWO of the Junior Caribbean Road Cycling Championships!!!!!!!
The Junior Ladies and Juveniles had there time in the saddle early this morning as they went under starters orders on the 10.1km course just about 8:00am in the 13th Annual Caribbean Junior Road Championships.
The ladies did five laps of the course which started and finished just outside of Windward Cricket Ground and the Juvenile boys had six laps of the same course.
The Juvenile boys commenced first, they rode four laps of the course together but the duo from Trinidad Enrique de Comorand and Joshua Rawlins had enough and broke away from the peloton. At the bell lap the two had a commanding lead ahead of the peloton but Enrique stamped his authority by dropping his teammate and he coursed home comfortably to secure his second Gold medal of the Championships, Joshua Rawlins had to settle for second position and Barbados’ Luke Staffner out-sprinted his counterparts to secure the bronze medal in front of the home crowd.
The four females started their circuit about three minutes after the Juveniles and rode the first three laps of the race together but in the last two laps Barbados’ Amber Joseph and Bermuda’s Allysa Rowse broke away from the two ladies from Suriname and Belize. It eventually came down to a sprint finish and Amber showed her powerful sprinting ability to easily take the GOLD, her second medal of the championships, Tachana Dalger was third.
The juniors course was 12.7km per lap and they started their grueling event just about 10:45am. The race was seven laps and Bermuda’s outstanding rider Matthew Oliveira was in fine form as he broke away from the peloton at lap one. He opened his lead every lap and finished in emphatic style doing the Double having won the Individual Time Trial on Day one of competition. Matthew finished more than nine minutes ahead of the second placed Emmanuel Gayral of Antigua and Adrian Urcel of Guadeloupe. Jacob Kelly was the first Barbadian cyclist to cross the line in fourth position, Dominic Howard was sixth and Kyle Gill eighth respectively.

Can't wait :) what a great show it will be :) :)
CONGRATULATIONS to Darren Matthews of Team Swift for making light work of a very challenging course to win the coveted title of ROAD RACE CHAMPION 2015. Second place went to Philip Clarke of Heatwave and third place to Russell Elcock who rode independent. It was also a clean sweep for Team Swift- Dean Holder must be commended for taking a chance dropping his rivals in the climb and never looking back resulting in the most unassuming victory of the day, in many races prior Dean was always beaten by his teammates but when it mattered most he put his best foot forward and reigned supreme. Second place went to the ever improving Chayne Goodman and in third was Tremaine Forde Catwell. Masters was won by Greg Austin and second went to Wayne Edwards (Barracuda). Masters 50 + was won by Greg Downie (Barracuda, Sedwin Jones finished 2nd and Ronald Harding 3rd. Women - Dominique Marshall was first and Marissa Bradshaw was second. Tinymites was won by Luke Staffner a very promising youngster who rode for Team Swift.
