Serbian Tvrdosh Monastery -1509, Trebinje - Republic of Srpska
The Tvrdosh Monastery is dedicated to the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos and was erected on the rocks of the place Tvrdosha, near the right bank of the river Trebishnjica, 4 kilometers west of Trebinje.
According to the folk tradition, which, truthfully, is relatively late, the Tvrdo Monastery was founded by Sv. Emperor Constantine and his mother Jelena, and after he was demolished and left, became the endowment of the king of Serbian Milutin, at the end of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th century. The fundamental renovation was carried out in 1509 by Metropolitan of Trebinje Visarion I.
Since then, the trumpet church with a cube has been preserved to this day, six stone pillars, a throne in the upper part, and parts of the walls with remains of frescoes. The monastery was for two centuries, if not more, the seat of Humsko-Hercegovacka, then called the Trebinje Metropolitanate. In the Turco-Venetian War, in 1694, the Venetians erected a church and the entire monastery with a lung of gunpowder in the air, described by Hercegovac Vladimir Corovic, credited, among other things, for the description of the history of almost all Herzegovina monasteries.
Only in 1928, the new entrant Nikola Runjevac, a wealthy Trebinjac from America, was restored to the church. Then, a smaller, old ending was done, and a new and bigger conquer was erected. The great revival and intense reconstruction of the monastery has been under way since 1955 and this reconstruction has lasted until today.

After the destruction of the Tvrdosh Monastery in the late seventeenth century, many spiritual and cultural high-value holy places and valuables from Tvrdosh were transferred to the Savina Monastery.
This monastery continued its life not only in the Savina, but even more so in the recent metoh - the Monastery of the Dawns. In Tvrdosh was brought from the monastery Long in October 1992, the holy arm of an unknown saint, most likely Sv. Queen Elen, Milutin and Dragutin's mother (as it was in the monastery, according to the record of the Sixth Monastery of the Monastery of Trebinje, now in the Savina).

Today, at the Tvrdosh Monastery, with the retired Bishop Atanasi and the iguman Hieromonk Sava (Miric) with the monastic brotherhood, they take care that with the help of God and good people, the Most Holy Mother of God is renewed even more.

Манастирски комплекс изгледа прелепо, нарочито првобитна црква са конаком и винским подрумом. Пре десетак година док још није било гужве, посетиоцима је био отворен простор око цркве и конака и, осим продавнице, није било других пратећих објеката. Посебну лепоту манастиру даје пространи врт,. Некада је ту био и сеник за одмор, са дивним погледом на Требишњицу.
