Don't let the charm of this place deceive you. The place is a total disappointment. After entering a virtually empty restaurant, my friend and I were first ignored for about ten minutes, subsequently refused service when attempting to order (coffees, desserts and rakijas) by a completely uninterested and off putting staff member, who did nothing whatsoever to try and be hospitable or welcoming. Truly a disgrace for Sarajevo's reputation of hospitality. Avoid this joint!

Unfortunately after taking a seat the waiter didn't bring any menus, and seemed oblivious so we walked out after waiting ten minutes. Need more staff or more training.

Nice view on the bridge and city hall. Location is wonderful. Quite good cuisine for prices that even if higher than Sarajevo's average are still affordable

Very nice decorated, historical place. Prices are average. They didn't have "bosanski lonac", which was the main reason to come for some of us. I ate some "dolme", which was nothing special. Portions are small.

This is the place to get traditional bosnia cuisine. And after you ate, you should order bosanska kafa and a rakija.

Restaurant recommended for everyone who likes to be treated with little respect. We were looking forward to eating dinner here. However, the owner somehow managed to behave so arrogantly and unprofessionally in the first two minutes that we lost our appetite.

Terrible to foreigners
We walked in the restaurant and wanted to make a reservation for the evening. The owner just answered "No Reservation!". We nodded and walked out, thinking of coming back later for dinner without reservation, as we noticed that some tables were reservated. A group of local people walked in and said they have reserved and the owner happily showed them their table. When I friendly asked, why we were not able to make a reservation, he just answered: "I don't need to explain that to you." We've never been treated this way in a restaurant.response / report this review -

This house has entered into history and became one of the legends of Sarajevo during the rule of Austria-Hungary monarchy. At the end of 20 century new rulers started building City Hall it suposed to be demolished, but the owner was against that and house was moved to the other side of the river in its original form. Brick by brick, stone by stone. Its locate just oposite of City Hall (the most famous buildings in Sarajevo), on the other end of Šeher – Ćehajas bridge.

Traditionally decorated down to the last detail Spite house is a must visit if for nothing else then ambience alone. The food is cooked fresh and presented in traditional dishes. The restaurant layout is such that it can offer privacy as well as space for large groups. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.
