Great service! Everyone is very nice. The food is great. Find out what the catch of the day is.
Well, let’s just say it wasn’t good. Our reservations were at 7:30 for 5 people, we got seated and waited for a server. When she finally came we ordered drinks and waited. She took our order and we continued to WAIT for another HOUR for our food. The food was okay. After we were done we sat and WAITED for 30 minutes for our bill. Ahead of time we asked for the spilt bill which didn’t come, so we had to WAITagain. She came back with the incorrect split bill.so guess what we WAITED again. I guess you can say it was definitely not worth the wait. It was way overpriced and they charge for each individual soda, which also wasn’t mentioned. If you want a far better meal go to Passions. This was the worst meal I have had yet so far in Aruba. But I will let you decide if you want to eat there or not.
Just finished dinner at Las Ramblas. Great food and service. Catch of the Day (Mahi Mahi) and the chocolate mousse cake were delicious.
Sometimes being a solo diner wait staff and others are attentive and, for lack of a better term, sympathetic to the fact that you have no table mate to converse with to fill gaps in service. Not the case here tonight. Over 90 minutes for 2 apps (as a meal, I'm a light eater), diners who arrived after me had dessert and were waiting for their checks before anyone came back to check on me. The maitre d' stopped at tables around me asking how things were going and clearing plates during my 90 minutes, somehow didn't notice my folded napkin, plate pushed away, me focusing on my phone out of boredom
So far the worst experience I've had in Aruba. First, they could not find the reservation even though we had booked in advance. We ordered off the restaurant week menu and one extra escargot dish. First dish was grilled scallop wrapped with bacon. The scallop wasn't charred at all. So it is still a bit chewy and was overwhelmed by the bacon. The red sauce and the vegetables that came with the dish didn't work with the scallop at all, felt like the salad was throw on the plate as an after-thought. The escargot was swimming in white wine and butter with no trace of herbs there. It's almost as if someone accidentally spilt water onto the dish. Then main dish, the fried snapper was a total disaster. The fish was very oily, falling apart into pieces as if someone had butchered it. The other main dish was the paella. It was the worst paella in my life. First off, the rice was overcooked. It was too soft. Then, it came with imitation crab. I have never seen anyone put that in paella before. And it was the worst imitation crab in my life. The shellfish was not cleaned properly either. It still had some leftover gunky bit. At that point, we informed the waiter and the manager came and apologized profusely. He did not charge us for the dish. A few good thing though, the place is very nice. It is just next to the beach and the pool. There is also a very nice live music here. I think the ambiance is the only selling point here.
