We were recommended Gostoso by our concierge as a place to get good, local cuisine away from tourists and it delivered. The food was amazing (try the sushi - instead of rice and seaweed, they wrap it in fried plantain). Fish was fresh and the service was attentive and friendly.

Fantastic food. All four people in our party thought our entres were spectacular. The price of the food was also more reasonable thanany other restaurants around that would offer similar high quality.
Several of us had the pork chop special, which was outstanding. One person had fish and their other chicken parmesan. For appetizers, we had calamari and mixed green salads. The balsamic vingerette dressing was particularly tasty.
The only mediocre part of our dining experience was the dessert. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. The presentation of it was nice, however.
The service was also on the speedier side for Arubian standards. Our water glasses were consistently filled up. Our appetizer plates were promptly bused.
The drinks were also good. I asked the waiter to serve me his or the bartender's favorite drink. He asked me if he wanted a "good" drink or one to "knock me out". I responded with "surprise me". I watched intently as the bartender poured the drink. There was no dou t about it, he went for the "knock out". I was far enough away that I couldn't see all of the exact types of booze, but it was a mighty stiff drink, but still incredibly tasty.
There is a kids menu and there were several kids eating with their families. We arrived somewhat near closing time, but we're seated graciously. Several of the tables appeared to be occupied by locals, which told me that the food would be outstanding.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy. There is inside and outside seating. The only potentially aspect of the atmosphere is that it is on a relatively busy road and you can hear cars pass by.
There is free parking available next to the restaurant.
There are two clean single-occupant bathroom stalls in the restaurant.response / report this review -

Service was very friendly and restaurant is cozy and welcoming. Unfortunately, every fish dish we ordered was grossly overcooked (“rubbery,” “fishy,” and “hard” were some descriptors used). I am confident my grouper in Aruban creole sauce was actually bacalau (rehydrated salted cod). It certainly was not grouper. We were all very disappointed with the food, though the servers were all friendly.

I loved the cod chowder special with the homemade hot sauce. The hot sauce reminded of Peruvian Aji Amarillo. Fantastic service. I left the lights of my rental car on in the parking lot and a neighbor called one of the waiters to alert me. Had my battery died the staff assured me they would have taken care of my group.

We tried the sushi with an Aruban twist and really enjoyed it. The portions are perfect for lunch and the food was tasty. It was a very home cooked style meal. Good service and ambiance. The lunch fixed price was very affordable and gave one plenty to choose from, including dessert. It is a short 15 minutes walk from the Renaissance Hotel

The food here was amazing. The staff is super friendly. The hospitality is remarkable. The owner came out to check on us several times. Never have I️ ever had an owner of a restaurant busting my table and refilling my glass with water! This place is exuberant.

The desserts have just arrived. Strawberry cheesecake, tiramisu, flan de Coco and chocolate cake. They are delicious and I definitely recommend this restaurante I rate a 100.9 stars😍

We've been here twice now and we just made a reservation to go back. The food here is PHENOMENAL. This is not an exaggeration. You know when good food just puts you in a good mood? This is it. Jose and August are so friendly they make you feel welcome and at ease. Words dont do this place justice. In my opinion, the best food on the island. Will recommend to anyone who will listen.

This great little Portuguese restaurant was probably the best surprise in the island. Food was delicious, great selection of Portuguese wines. You should definitely order any fish from the menu. And don't skip the house desserts - you won't regret. Did I mention the superb service with a big smile?
