This restaurant is amazing! Beautiful relaxing romantic atmosphere. Staff was friendly and made great suggestions. Worth the drive. Make reservations so you can get a table in the water during sunset.
We just had dinner at the Flying Fishbone our last night in Aruba. What a HUGE mistake!! From the second we walked in, “Michelle “ greeted us with a snarky, curt, rude, bothered welcome by saying “go wait by the bar. “ (this was our first time ever dining here. We came by taxi from the high rise section which cost $35.00, one way. ) The whole experience was awful from the start. We were given wrong information about the special of the night. (It wasn’t red snapper, it was unicorn fish. ) our salads weren’t as ordered. We waited 20 minutes for our second diet cokes. Our dinners came out cold, dry, over cooked, and loaded with salt. To be fair, I must say the location is gorgeous! We were stranded there because they neglected to call our taxi driver, which caused us to stand out front in the wind for over 40 minutes. (It’s a 30 minute taxi ride back to the high rise. ) This restaurant is everything Aruba isn’t! Please don’t waste your time
The Flying Fishbone is a fabulous place. Very romantic place where the sunset view can't be beat. We met the owner of the restaurant and he is a great guy. You also need to check out the sailing charter from these people. We sailed with them and made great memories to last a lifetime.
The food was good. The ambiance was exceptional. But, as soon as you’re greeted by the hostess, she puts a sour taste in your mouth. The kind of taste that says “I’m too busy to deal with you even though you’re going to drop $300 here and maintain my continued employment.” The bar service was slow. So slow, that I took to ordering drinks 2 at a time. I would have given them a “1,” but the food is undeniably good. The sunset view from our table was spectacular.
Great experience, great atmosphere and nice music. The ambience was amazing and the service was terrific. We ordered the surf and turk; which included steak and lobster with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. I ordered a side of fried rice. It was great as well. It was all amazing! Will definitely visit when I return to Aruba. Make a reservation on the website before you visit to ensure you can be accommodated.
Beautiful ambiance, food was good, service sucked. Initially I thought European slow. Then it just went downhill. It took 20 minutes from giving us the bill to coming back with the credit card run. I literally watched him stop and chat with s group of girls leaning and them go to another waitress to chat while he was holding Toms folio with cc.
Wonderful experience, service, and food.
We had a very attentive and experienced waiter.
Be sure to make a reservation if you want to sit near the water.
Try the lychee martini and their signature martini. Super tasty!
Food is a bit on the expensive end, so keep that in mind.
Cocktails are around $12, entrees are generally in the $30s.
Amazing food, unique drinks and the dessert was fabulous. Make sure you dine outside by the water and watch out for crabs during the day (they go back in the water shortly after sundown). This is a seafood lovers paradise and the staff were amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful as was the view of the beach.
Great food and service. It's not crazy expensive and the ambience is beautiful. Go around 7 pm or so because the flies and mosquitoes can get crazy during sunset especially when your meal is served. Also, make a reservation ahead of time because it can get crowded very fast. Other than, I would go again. :)
Awesome ambience. They seated us even without a reservation, but to ensure you get a seating, it's probably best to call ahead. Extremely generous portions of fresh seafood served at tables overlooking, or even in, the water. We had a Caribbean version of curried "paella" with shrimp, calamari, mussels, and chunks of flaky fish over a bed of rice.
This dining experience was certainly once of the most unique and romantic ways to endure an Aruban sunset! Feet in the water while the waves wash over your toes, sandals hung nearby and the service was outstanding. Serving sizes of the dishes were a bit oversized (which isn't always a bad thing!) And there were so many dining table options to completely change the experience for any occasion. This dining experience is a must if you visit Aruba!
It’s pretty nice experience not only having dinner on the beach but also soaking in the water literally. A lot of fun when the it’s high tide! The food was delicious as the fish, shrimp, oyster, clam everything was fresh. Make sure you have made reservation in advance and asked for a table on beach!
Our first meal on the island. It was a great experience. Have never dined on the water, atmosphere was amazing. The snapper was delicious.
Food was excellently. By far the best dinner we had on the island. Staff was amazing, they treated us wonderfully even giving us a special desert since it was our honeymoon. It is a little pricey but well worth every penny of it!!
My husband and I went to the Flying Fishbone on our honeymoon. Hands down the best seafood and steak we have ever had. The food was fresh, the staff were super friendly and the atmosphere is unbelievable. Great experience, I recommend this place to everyone.
Perfect place for a special night. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out, but it's all about the beach tables and sunset views. It's worth the drive across the island from Oranjestad or the high rise hotels - it feels like a different island (less crowded, more quaint). The food and drink were good but I'll probably remember the experience amd setting more than anything.
In A Nutshell:
-Highly bespoken, the "Flying Fishbone" has sadly, destructively destroyed it's reputation.
-First off, the ambience did not disappoint.
-The sun was gently setting northwest in the distance, while you sit (in our case) on the beach, but not in the water (like some tables were).
-We started off w/ escargot, which teased is b/c it not only looked good but tasted awesome.
-However, we started to notice the BAD SERVICE immediately come to fruition.
-We were offered sharing plates & hot sauce but those were never delivered.
-We never got a refill on water until AFTER the check was signed.
-We were never asked for another cocktail or dessert.
-The last two points above are basic restaurant etiquette right? Make more profit.
Overall, the entire staff needs to be retrained or let go immediately. 1 star restaurant. I hope improvements are made so you can have a better experience!
This is about as waterfront as it gets. The surf and turf was great. Our waitress (I believe Luwatani) was very attentive and took a great picture of us sitting at the water with our feet in it (at the table).
The atmosphere is charming, even if it's primitive. I understand the concept of tourist ambience even if I don't, personally, need to sit with my feet in the sand.
Food: disgusting. Dry, old fish; peeled is great but under ripened tomatoes a menu overly complicated with frozen and flown in products. The handicapped (one clawed) crab swimming in the ocean next to my table would have been far more tastey than what was served on my plate.
It's a little pricey but worth it. Make sure you reserve your seat a few days ahead of time. Reservations are made by how far you want to be in the water. Also I highly recommend timing it so you will be there for the sunset. Amazing staff!
Food was delicious, and the ambiance was great. Some of the tables are in the water which makes for a unique dining experience. The service was good, but not the best I've had. We had the Surf n Turf, as well as the Red Snapper with shrimp. Again, the food was very good but I do think that it is overpriced for the quality of food you are getting.
The food is very good but you can find good food anywhere on the island. It's a long drive (or expensive taxi ride) from Eagle/Palm Beach. We sat with "feet in water" but the water level doesn't actually come up high enough to dip your toes so you're right next to the water. Little crabs scamper along the rocks & under your table (harmless). On our trip the wind was VERY strong and we had trouble getting water glasses to stay upright! The waitress even droppped butter all over my dress because of the wind. They were very polite about it but it nothing was taken off the bill. The dress cleaned up well but given the uncomfortableness of the situation of low water level, high wind, spilled butter, distance to get there; I can't recommend a visit. It's unique, and if you have a car & the time and it's not windy, go visit. Plan at least 2-3 hrs for dinner as service is slow.
I was very much looking forward to trying this place out and it really lived up to it's expectations. We made reservations for 5pm to sit by the water, we had appetizers, drinks, dinner and dessert. The food was good. We stayed there for over 2 hours watching the sunset and enjoying our meal. The staff was great, never rushed us and really made our birthday celebration special. A must experience in Aruba.
Really really nice place. This was our first stop in Aruba and it was a great way to kick off the week. The food is good, pricey, but the atmosphere and service was great. We reserved a table in the water a week before we got there just in case. The reservation on the water can only be done for 5pm and we just stayed there until after sunset. There was no rush to leave and the staff was accommodating. It's worth going and I've never been anywhere else where we can sit at a table with our feet in the water. Great experience. The other tables, should you not get a water spot, are also good and are all in the sand.
