Great service awesome ambiance and all their furniture is all hand made.It was a copy of the Flintstones .Loved it must visit when you go to Baby beach.The chicken sandwich was delicious and inexpensive.

Horrible service. The worst we had the entire 9 days we stayed on the island. The staff had major chips on their shoulders and were rude and sarcastic and the drinks were awful and overpriced

After reading some reviews I know what people mean about being overcharged. We ordered a quick lunch with a hot dog and chicken tenders from the kids menu and a curry shrimp dish. My 3 year old often doesn't know what he wants, so we ordered 2 small items and I would eat what he didn't want. The food was good and the service was decent. Not to slow. Our waiter was actually really cool and seemed like a nice guy. When it came time for the check there were two receipts. They were about $20 difference. It was definitely not the exchange rates. We had 2 $100 bills and since the higher total was around 90 us, we gave them both bills. My husband was looking at the check for a while which caused a manager lady to keep looking our way. The server quickly came over and picked up the check and we handed the server the two hundreds and ask for change in order to tip. When he came back he only had $90 in change and immediately the manager lady came over and started talking to the server. Anther easier even came over and was also contributing to their conversation. I could pick up a few Spanish words but they were definitely talking numbers and what amount to give back to us. It seemed very disorganized. We left a tip and then while walking out we were second-guessing the pill. My husband even went back in to ask the server if we had tipped him enough because the amounts changed. The server said we were good. Initially i thought that maybe there was some tax or service fees added, but now seeing the other reviews. I'm thinking they were scamming us. I suppose if you go here just keep an eye on your bill but the food was pretty good and my son's "special chocolate drink" was excellent although I'm sure we were charged $25 for that drink.

The food is average in taste and pricing, you'll be looking at at least $10 per person. A bottle of Stella Artois was $7 and a cocktail was around $10. Portions are decently-sized.
Our waiter didn't impress us much when it came to service, but there was another helpful waiter who was very kind and apologetic about the wait time, which actually wasn't all that bad considering the influx of customers who were escaping from the sudden downpour. In general, though, the service leaves much to be desired. At one point we saw a waiter spill a drink on an older gentleman and not even stop or return to apologize or clean up.
It is a bit of a tourist trap, since your only other option for food is the snack bar to the east (which is closed on Mondays, we later learned, and does not have the best reviews anyway), and another restaurant about a 10-minute walk to the west.
Additionally, although there are (deteriorated) signs indicating that they accept credit cards with a $15 minimum, our waiter refused to accept our credit card. That was a bit confusing.
Also, the bathroom tokens are squares of thin cardboard (what??).response / report this review -

Really unique Flintstone's themed restaurant on the beach. Typical bar / beach food - it is not a gourmet restaurant! Lots of fried food and expensive drinks - but that is what you get at tourist / beach type locations. I specifically asked for a vegetarian option and I got a yummy $20 huge plate with beans, rice, salad, fries, plantains, and pasta salad. It was surprisingly good. Waiter did hit on me before he found I wasn't alone. They are dressed like cave men from Flintstone's. You need tokens of some sort to use the bathroom. Lots of parking but you may have to walk. Right on Baby Beach. Lovely view. Slow service. Relax and watch the waves roll in. *Worth a stop in just to see the handmade furniture!

My boyfriend and I visited baby beach and stopped at Big Mama's for a bite to eat, what a mistake that was. The food was so awful we couldn't eat it. The food was sooooooo bad, it wasn't suitable for an animal. Just thinking about it makes me feel nauseous. I ordered a glass of wine which, came to the table in a filthy plastic wine glass, very hesitantly I tried a sip (figuring the alcohol would kill any germs) it tasted like straight vinegar. The food was literally disgusting and neither of us could eat it. the curry chicken was all bone and skin and some pieces you couldn't even identify. In addition to the terrible food, service, and dirty dishes, they were overcharging people. Every check they brought out people were complaining about being over charged. DO NOT GO THERE!!!
If you do go there check out the hideous outfits she has her servers wearing, at least we got a laugh out of that.response / report this review -

Regular service. Waiters fine but meals and food offer is short. Middle prices going to high Ambient and spaces are fine, Flinstones theme was adapted to the restaurant. Restrooms quite bad. Need to improve. Take into account there is no other Bar arround Baby Beach.

If you go to Baby beach make sure to take your own drinks! Including tourists! The place is way overpriced! Just buy a cheap cooler and bring that to the beach. 6,50$ for one beer!! That is crazy! Other hotel areas charge 4 dollars. A beer cost 1$ at the supermarket! The owner was even super unfriendly about it after we purchased it. Do not recommend/10

FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT GO HERE!!!
The Beach was breathtaking but this restaurant was THE WORST. make sure you bring your food and drinks. I wish I could give it a 0 star. They take advantage of Americans (especially females). We food was great, we left them a great tip We asked them to call a taxi for us (our hotel was 45 min away).. The :head waiter" said he will bring us. we felt very uncomfortable and gave him our taxi driver from our hotel number. He pretended to call him but never did and said no one picked up. We turned our airplane mode off and of course the taxi company picked up the phone. We had to wait 45 min and that hear waiter kept coming out and saying how we are still waiting for the taxi, if he sent us we would of been there already Also, they always add more money to the total.. Big Mama just sits there and does nothing. She should be called Huge Disgusting mama.response / report this review -

Went here for dinner with my girlfriend. Had the land and sea combo for 2. There was food for 4 I think and all of it delicious! I especially liked the grouper. Drinks were tasty as well and being right on the beach was perfect. Great relaxing spot.

Bad cocktails, employees shouting at eachother, bad service in general. When I wanted to pay, they charged me $1 more for no reason. After confronting them, a woman started shouting. I wanted to pay by card, which was 'not possible', because they were 'closed'. After 2 seconds it was possible all of a sudden, but I would be charged another $1 extra.. no explanation, rip off and the worst experience on the island so far.

My girlfriend and I went to Big Mama's after a nice day at Baby beach. I heard about this place from a former co-worker and read about it, and was super excited to try it because of all of the good reviews. My girl and I ordered burger baskets, which were really good, as well as mango margaritas. When I tell you that the margaritas had no flavor as well as no alcohol in them, they had no flavor or alcohol. We were extremely upset at the fact that we were told that the drinks had alcohol and when they were sent back, they supposedly added "more" alcohol to them. But there was still nothing in them!!! I think what upset us the most is that the owner, "Big mama", did not professionally handle the matter by coming over to us to talk about the dilemma instead she sent her servers over to try to talk about it. She also told them that we could not have the drinks taken off the bill; regardless, we still paid for everything and tipped our server because we knew it wasn't his fault. We just didn't appreciate being played or lied to because we are Americans. We knew there wasn't any alcohol in the drinks, so we should have been charged accordingly.
Again, the food was good; it's the lack of professionalism that I'm critiquing/ being tricked that is causing me to rate it as a 2 star business.response / report this review -

Nice looking restaurant, average staff. Everything fried was overcooked beyond reasonable. The curry chicken stew and the beef stew were tasty, my suggestion is to order their stew before anything else. Dirty washrooms, you have to order from the bar in order to use them or you have to pay to do that.

Other than off roading to natural pool, going to baby beach and eating at big mommas was the best experience of our trip. We went the 2nd day and it was so much fun we went back again. The locals at big mommas remembered us and treated us like friends. I highly recommend a mudslide if the pretty redhead is behind the bar. And tell flip flop we said what's up.

The quintessential Beach bar Great views, ok food and drinks - you pay for the location. A trip to the bathroom is a bit of an adventure.

Wonderful views of Baby Beach as well as good food and drink options. Food prices are expensive and alcohol is available via cash only. One major complaint is that you must purchase a bathroom pass for $5; which is a shack located quite far from the restaurant area, and was broken down at the time of my visit.
