About

Involved Psychology is a counselor, located at Dallas Business Centre, 135 Bamfield Rd Heidelberg Heights, VIC 3081. They can be contacted via phone at (03) 9458 8035 or email at [email protected], visit their website involvedpsychology.com.au or Facebook profile for more detailed information.

Involved Psychology supports people across Richmond and Heidelberg West through the work of counselling psychologist Marie-Claire McCubbery (BA Psych, PGDip Psych, MCounsPsych, MAPS). She sees individuals aged 14 and over as well as couples, helping clients work through anxiety, depression, grief and loss, workplace conflict, and the burnout that builds up when life feels unmanageable.

As an adolescent psychologist, she also supports younger clients finding their footing during a stage of life that can bring pressure from school, friendships and family all at once. Her couples counselling work helps partners rebuild communication and resolve relationship issues before they take a deeper toll, with sessions structured around what each couple is actually navigating rather than a one-size-fits-all program. Therapy draws on CBT, ACT, Emotional Focus Therapy, mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy and psychodynamic approaches, tailored session by session rather than applied as a fixed formula, and adjusted as a client's needs shift over time.

Telehealth appointments and sessions in fluent Spanish are available for clients who need more flexibility around location or language. With a person-centred approach and experience supporting WorkCover, TAC, VOCAT and NDIS clients, Involved Psychology offers a space clients can trust to meet them where they are, without judgement and at their own pace.

Info: Marie-Claire McCubbery leads Involved Psychology from clinics in Richmond and Heidelberg West, offering psychology support to individuals and couples across Melbourne's inner north and inner east. Her client base spans everything from adolescent psychology through to relationship issues, with common presentations including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and the stress and burnout that often show up alongside workplace conflict.

Sessions are designed to feel collaborative rather than clinical, with time given to understanding each client's story before working toward practical, lasting change. Couples counselling is a particular focus, drawing on Emotional Focus Therapy alongside CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based work, Solution-Focused Therapy and psychodynamic therapy to suit each couple or individual's circumstances, whether the goal is rebuilding trust, improving communication, or working through a difficult transition. Sessions are available via telehealth or in Spanish where needed, and Marie-Claire has extensive experience working with WorkCover, TAC, VOCAT and NDIS clients, understanding the added layers these processes can bring.

Grounded in a person-centred philosophy, Involved Psychology gives clients a genuinely collaborative space to work through what's going on, making it a reliable choice for anyone seeking steady, evidence-based support they can count on.

  • What is the cost of a session??
Individual therapy sessions are $200 and couple sessions are $240. If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, Medicare will rebate $98.65 for eligible individual sessions. This reduces your out-of-pocket cost and can make ongoing support easier to manage. If you are unsure how the process works, we’re always happy to guide you through it.

  • Do you offer Medicare rebates??
You may be able to receive a Medicare rebate with the appropriate referral from your GP. Although you do not require a doctor’s referral to see a psychologist, by having the referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your doctor you are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $98.65 which covers up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
  • How do I pay for my session??
Payment is due at the time of the session. We accept payment via cash, credit card and debit card. Your rebate will be processed by the psychologist after payment. Or will receive an invoice with relevant details after payment.

A receipt will be provided for every session; however, please ensure you keep this receipt if you intend to claim through your Private Health Insurance.
  • What happens if I miss a session or need to cancel??
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide 48 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee. Failure to do so may result in a charge for the missed session.
