Went for a family hiking trip here in October 2016. We spent four days exploring - what a beautiful place! Unfortunately some of the campsites were quite crowded with large school groups.

This a must visit location. Far enough away from most townships that the night sky looks fantastic. There are numerous walks around the Tidal River campground all of which give great views. There are numerous facilities available including showers, toilets, water, a convenience store, mobile phone charging station and a local police presence. Accommodation types include un-powered campsites, powered campsites, small cabins, large cabins and group lodges. Make sure you book early though as this place fills fast and is very popular, especially in summer.

Wilsons Promontory is one of the places which I would consider as a hidden treasure. Hidden might not be the right word as it is very well know but when I was there, there were hardly any people. The advantage of traveling in southern hemisphere winter :) If you drive through WP at night, be aware that there are kangaroos everywhere. Drive slowly and be prepared to stop. During the day you can spot all kinds of animals like emu, wombat and more kangaroos than you can see anywhere else. Take a hike through the dunes to get to the beautiful beaches and just enjoy the view and loneliness (in September)
