Welshman's Reef Caravan Park was rescued from extinction when Goulburn Murray Water threatened to close it in November 2014. The formation of a not-for-profit association of site holders lobbied to take over the Park and in 2015, the Welshman's Reef Water Sports Club Inc. was awarded a 32 year lease over the land and buildings. Many upgrades and improvements were required to maintain the Park and a Committee of Management set about making the necessary changes. The most important upgrade was the Fire Services and as of October 2016, those upgrades have been completed to satisfy all CFA requirements. Once the EPA requirements are completed the Park will be re-rated.
