We had bought a rundown house that needed to be brought back to life and an old garage (that would not fit more than a Morris Minor) replaced with something bigger. We discovered the Middlewoman from her shop on Stanmore Road. We were immediately impressed by her response and down to earth approach to our requirements and quickly selected her to project manage the works we required. It was not an easy renovation with internal and external works and the need to relocate our kitchen. There was not one aspect of the services that Sarah provided that we can fault. She kept us within budget - by constantly identifying alternative, more cost effective solutions. Her subcontractors were skilled and careful workers and we had no problem welcoming them on site for the length of the project. They were polite and left the site clean and tidy each day. Sarah engaged an architect who enabled our rough ideas to be realised and navigated the council approval process efficiently. The project took longer than expected due to Covid lockdowns - the house being in what was classed as an LGA of concern. The interruptions did not result in any reduction in the quality of the work. The building was certainly put to the test with all the rain over the last summer. No leaks! We are very satisfied customers. We were concerned about the impact of building works on our neighbours - but all have complimented us not only on the quality of the work but also Sarah’s engagement with them so they were never taken by surprise by deliveries of bricks, steel beams or early morning concrete pours. We would highly recommend the Middlewoman and her team and would certainly use them again.
Sarah claimed that as a woman she had to offer something different than what you might expect from a man, that she 'used to be a nurse'. I can tell you as someone who lived next to a construction site of hers for months that this is exactly the opposite, and her previously being a nurse is no testament to her character. She is exploitative, manipulative and if you have any regard for others, your business should be taken elsewhere.
I am a young person who lived next door while the middle woman carried out its operations on a property. I spoke to Sarah about the effect of the construction upon us and she told us she would 'compensate us directly' so as to 'not to trouble the landlord'. In this way, she exploited young people's lack of awareness of their rights to leave us in a position where we had no legal standing to receive compensation. I cut my feet open on chunks of brick debris, had belongings coated in hazardous dust from a heritage building, had strangers walk on the property and lived with constant noise for months. This led me to have an emotional breakdown of which she was aware, and responded with 'you could be my own children' before offering to compensate us. This is not a person you want any shred of involvement with.
Highly recommend the Middlewoman team for any job large or small. Professional, punctual and provided full project management services for my home and garden renovation. Design, painting, landscaping and creative solutions to maximise light and liveability exceeded expectations!
Sarah and the team helped us remodel our terrace house and we couldn't be happier with the result. It was a huge operation, yet throughout the process they were continually coming up with ideas to improve the design. The build quality is fantastic, and even a year after we've moved in they are still always available if we have any questions or issues. We achieved a home that is even more than our original expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Middlewoman to anyone.
We had much needed renovations carried out last year. The team thought about details we hadn't even considered and this year going through lockdown, we're so pleased with the comfortable space that has been created. Our bathroom has gone from being a dank sad room, to my favourite room in the house. Highly recommend the team at the middle woman
