Cold beer. Excellent meals. This pub was a real surprise. It doesn't look like much from the outside on the street, but inside it's charming and we'll appointed and the staff went out if their way to make our lynch booking for 12 people something wonderful.

The Parmas are overrated and expensive, but the worst thing is they have a band on Saturday nights and they have rooms over the bar area and the rooms vibrate with the music. The band played until 12.30am. It is impossible to remain in the room, let alone try to sleep while they are playing. There is no mention of that when booking. Very disappointing. Book the other hotels instead.

This was my first visit to Alexandra and simply needed a room for the night. It's no 5 star hotel but that's about the only possible negative I have to say. Staff are really welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and what I would expect in this price range. The food at the bar, however, was exceptional. The drive to get here was enjoyable so I will return again.

Rooms are great for a quick stay but beware of creaking Floors. Lovely grand architecture and artwork I was looking forward for the Parma and the veggies but they were undercooked. Breakfast was a nice touch. 3.5

Like many country pubs these days, the building shows signs of its age. (And it would cost anyone a mint to fix those old buildings up to their former glory). But we had a great time here - rooms were cumfy and most importantly, clean. Quiet night and good night's sleep. Staff were incredibly friendly and obliging. Meal in the restaurant downstairs was good. And you have to try those fries! Def recommend!
