Must be under new management or have a new chef because tapeo has changed for the worse. $19 for 3 "pancakes" which were small and dense. The big breakfast used to be huge for only a slightly higher price. Also the bottoms of coffee cups and water glasses were dirty. If they can't do these basic things correctly then what else is going on

Dude that runs this place couldn't organise a chook raffle let alone this coffee shop. Was rude and insulting to his own staff while I was being served at till. Needs to get over himself and learn some basic business 101. In saying that, the staff weren't much useful either. Similar to previous review, asked to order seconds after sitting down. Said we need a couple minutes. Waited 20 minutes and then had to flag the staff down. Ordered. They forgot one of our items. We got the food and we couldn't even finish it. Coffee awful too.

    Prime location.
    Whole business needs a shake-up.
Better management. Someone who understands coffee. A couple more experienced staff who are interested in their customers to show the younger ones the way - cause the current bloke is useless. He needs to take a step back and get some good ppl in.

Would like to be able to comment on the food, but I wouldn't know. Waitress asked us what we wanted before we'd even sat down or looked at the menu. Asked for a few minutes to decide as we'd not been before. 15 minutes later, she hadn't been back. Went and spoke to a guy to ask whether we needed to order at the till and was told it was full table service so I sat back down. Another 15 minutes and still no sign of the waitress, so we left and went to another cafe, Angelo Pascucci in Waterloo, and incidentally had great food and service.

There is really nothing good about this cafe. The service is slow, the coffee poor, the menu uninspiring, the food below average, the owner rude and perhaps worst of all they have a crazy 10% weekend surcharge! That's right, weekend surcharge (not public holiday surcharge which I can understand). We had the baked eggs (which were poached rather than baked for some reason) which was basically a can of beans and a can of tinned tomatoes heated up. Avoid.

Horrible, the chicken sandwich was so dry. I think it was cooked about 4 times. Guy behind the coffee machine was so rude to his staff. Please please don't go here. There are so many top notch cafes in Redfern, walk up the street to fern st cafe. You won't regret it!

    Bad coffee and worse management.
The manager or owner "Gavin?" of this place is a downright nasty person . His treatment of the staff is appalling, shouting and belittling them for his own silly mistakes. There are cockroaches crawling on furniture and walls, and maybe even in your COFFEE!! But Gavin won't hear a word of it, instead telling you to get out of his cafe and blaming a poor underpaid staff member instead. Poor form and frankly, UNAUSTRALIAN.

Reading through the reviews, this cafe seems to be a hit or miss. For my experience with a few mates for brunch, it was excellent. Gavin, I assumed to be the owner, is a top bloke! Friendly service and the food is very resonably priced for the amount and quality. Coffee and tea (tried both) were great. Great cozy place to start your day. Would definitely recommend.

Shakshouka = flavourless, pouched eggs like golf balls, no cumin, possibly made from a tin of tomatoes (not authentic). Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict = dry, over priced, possible off meat taste. Thought I would give this busy looking place a go. It was terrible and over priced. The food was flavourless, the menu has way too many types of cuisines, if they focused on mastering a few dishes maybe it would be better. Never again.

I suggested this place for dinner to take my friend and was so embaressed by the time we left. The $42 bottle of wine we bought was definitely not the wine on the menu and we believe it was a different wine inside the bottle not to mention it was very very cloudy. The food was average I enjoyed the snapper but my friend, unfortunately, received a very I'll stomach after dinner. On paying the Bill which was $105.10, we gave the waiter $150 and he gave us $40 change. I didn't notice until I went home so I called and advised the waiter of our dissapointment and he said call back the next day. I will never eat here again!

Had the worst dining experience we have had in a long time. Service was friendly, but food was terrible and we waited 40mins. Avocado in the salad bowl was also unripe. At $65 for 2 people for 2 meals and 2 coffees nothing about this experience will ever make us want to come back. Not one to ever rate online but this experience was extremely awful bur we felt upset and completely ripped off.

Friendly, efficient, good-humoured staff. Excellent iced coffee - unashamedly icecreamy and robust in flavour. Delicious spinach roll too!
