I didn’t receive phone calls for two of three telehealth appointments I booked through hotdoc for Dr Saliya. I waited hours both the times and there was no way to call the reception to check as the number was diverted to some other service during after hours. I sent an email seeking some clarification from the doctor and the medical centre. Received a phone call from the reception to check what happened but no clarification whatsoever.
The reception staff are lovely, however the Dr that I saw was truly horrible. He did know seems to know the answers to questions I was asking and was just reading information from the computer, general information. I asked a simple question of whether to stop medication for my 19months daughter after 7 days or continue taking it until
all bottle was finished and was not able to be get a clear answer. He went on to discussing various medications that could have been given to my daughter and all the unnecessary details about those types of medications. Completely irrelevant, as my daughter was already better and has been taking the current medication for 7 days. He was pretty incompetent Dr in my opinion.
This was just one question that I couldn’t get a coherent response to. I saw Dr Tan.
He was more interested in regurgitating information than actually listening to the questions and concerns.
I’m a usual patient of the clinic, and my partner attended today because his doctor wasn’t able to see him. He is a First Nations man and I suggested the clinic because it bulk bills Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander patients. I called the clinic to check, and the reception staff had to put me on hold to check whether First Nations patients were bulk billed for their first appointment. The fact this wasn’t known straight away by staff should have been a little red flag for me.
When my partner came in today, the receptionist made him feel a bit uncomfortable on arrival, announcing to him there would be a fee unless he had ‘concessions.’ He had already filled out his new patient form, so he expected the reception staff to see that he is First Nations and thus would be bulk billed. The doctor saw his details on file in his appointment so she passed bulk billing notes onto reception, so he was fine when he left, but the first impression made him feel uncomfortable.
I think it’s important to give this feedback for receptionist staff to please be mindful of First Nations patients, and make sure they are not made to feel that their heritage is a ‘concession.’ Having First Nations patients identified when they check in to their appointment will avoid any inappropriate questions or disclaimers that could make patients feel put on the spot or unsure when to bring it up and ‘announce’ their cultural background.
Everything else with his experience was good, he was taken care of in his appointment, but I don’t think he will want to come back based on that first impression. More cultural awareness training is 100% needed based on his, and my experiences.
A wonderful and extremely inviting clinic with incredibly professional yet compassionate medical practitioners!
My family have been attending the clinic since opening. I would not consider going anywhere else. The manager and reception staff are fantastic.
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Amit Singh. He was attentive, compassionate, and took the time to listen to all my concerns. Their expertise and professionalism were evident throughout the appointment. I felt genuinely cared for and confident in their medical advice. I would highly recommend Dr. Amit Singh to anyone in need of exceptional healthcare.
