What's up with this crazy loud music? It'd be nice at 40 decibels lower where you can then hear the Airport PA announcements

A BIG WARNING to ANYONE PARKING in "Short Stay" parking. I was flying to the Gold Coast for 24 hours and figured that if i was a little over the 24 hours due to flights then I would be charged per hour (see the parking sign attached). Then there would be the flat rate $31= 24 hours plus 1 or 2 hours rate if i was running late. Well my time for parking totalled 24 hour & 45 minutes. So i assumed i would be paying $36 But no i was charged $62.93 (see attached) and when i rang to clarify this i was told that the rate is actually $31 = 24 hours and that rates are only charged as 24 hour lots not hourly rates past a 24 hour period. This i feel is not what the sign enplanes property SO BE CAREFUL. Had i not gotten to the Air Port as early as i did this would also not have occurred. Try ring the Air Port though and you will get no help !!!!

An elderly man had a stroke and if it wasn't for the two off duty nurses, he would have had serious problems.
The security restricted the ability of certain personnel to preserve life.
There was a serious lack of communication to the extent that it took 15 mins for a medical kit to be brought forward.
You are a disgrace and a fake airport.

Small provincial airport but modern and efficient
Clean, efficient and functional but you do have to exit planes from stairs and walk across tarmac.. fine for me but I wonder how peopel with limited mobility would cope .. especially in the rain!

The airport is OK but be cautious with transport bookings thru the airport. We booked more than a week out for an early morning car for our flight. The day before we got a call asking if we could be picked up half an hour earlier. Bells should have rung. We got a people mover and a half hour circuit of Newcastle to pick up someone else at our original booking time. Not what we ordered!

This airport has improved significantly and should be the standard for regional airports around Australia. It looks modern and the various food outlets give great variety. There is no issue with parking and it is a breeze to park and get to your gate. The staff are friendly and efficient, perfect for when you are in a hurry.

Stranded. The airport itself is fine for a regional airport. It's location and connectivity to the city of Newcastle is poor. The most reliable option is a $50 transfer, where you share with a few other travellers. Next would be taxis, if there's any at the rank, and the price would be similar or more $50+. You've got very little chance of snagging an Uber car out there, and the price might be ~$40. For solo travellers or those on a budget, a reasonable option is the bus. However if you're flight is delayed and you miss your planned bus connection, you could wait a long time for the next one, even early on a weekday afternoon, the wait could be over an hour. OVER AN HOUR wait for the next bus to the LARGEST REGIONAL CITY IN AUSTRALIA. On a weekday afternoon. City planners and airport administration should review this with transport providers ASAP.

This airport is a great regional airport.

There are 4 sections for parking, the furthest being about a 5-7 minute walk from the terminal. In saying that, there is a shuttle that runs every 15mins or so (there is an intercom at the shuttle stand if you're there and the shuttle isn't). Parking for 4 nights came in at just $56! That's cheaper than driving to Sydney, paying for tolls and fuel/wear and tear on your car. And flights tend to be cheaper from Newcastle as well.

The terminal has recently undergone a major extension/refurbishment and it's now a very well set out airport. If only one could access baggage claim from the inside at checkin rather than having to exit the building into the elements to get to baggage claim. There are a few cafe/bar/restaurants that you can indulge whilst waiting for the flight. Sadly there is no lounge.

The only thing I dislike about this airport, through no fault of the airport, is the airlines won't put flights on to other Capital Cities like Adelaide and Perth, despite there being strong demand. Passengers have to travel via Brisbane or Melbourne and because of this, I travel to Sydney when I have to fly to these cities as everyone prefers a direct flight.
