Wonderful place, host very friendly and lot of wildlife around. They also rescue Tree roos so you can see them close and they jump on your shoulders too. Nelson is really friendly and so cute ! Thanks for helping these wonderful animals !
You can see pademelons, kangaroo rats and lot of possums coming in the evening :)

This is not only an experience..but a total immersion into a wildlife and rain forest wonderland. No where else I have travelled of this sort of accommodation style can come close to matching Lumholtz Lodge. Margit's accommodation is five star, a totally refreshing, modern, colourful and immaculate but relaxing comfy house that becomes your home within minutes of meeting this truly amazing lady. The pictures and stories on her walls invite you into a world of inspiration, empathy, triumph and tribulation, and tell the story of her dedication to animals around the world and especially her last 40 years within the rain forests of far north Queensland. Margit caters to all, and you will leave her house feeling, informed and educated about all flora and fauna of the rain forest, especially her dedication to the Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo. The evening visits from the pademelon and possum and the awe inspiring array of parrots and birds in the morning sunlight create a photographers spectacular smorgasbord. And the food.omgto die for. I have never known such hospitality and dedication to the guest in such a relaxing and welcoming way. I recommend Margit's home and accomodation style to anyone, but especially those that want a total Australian experience like no other and a those looking for a naturalist, environmental, rain forest, flora and fauna and photographer's delight..

I don't even know how to describe this place. Wildlife literally at your doorstep. Margit is an amazing host (and cook). I spent hours just bird watching from the verandah and looking through the nature books.
    We love it 💖
The region is the best for wildlife in Australia.

The house has a nice external environment and the kangaroos etc in the house are entertaining. The proper bathroom is downstairs away from your room. The owner/proprietor is not ideally suited for running a B&B: talkative, but doesn't listen and is very opinionated. Would definitely not stay again.
