Laurent isn't really my favourite but the staff here deserve an extra star for their service and willingness to please. Love the fact you can buy rustic olive bread and take it home. Prices are ok, quality is ok. I used to go often as it was convenient. I think Hard Pressed's coffee down the road is much better though.

I waited 10 minutes before asking the lady for my fruit toast. She pulled the cold toast out of the toaster and served it to me. Awesome.

I can c why there is a big difference in the experiences (and reviews) at this place.
Place : looks nice, recently renovated. Not too spacious and filled with tables.
Service: the lady I dealt with was very polite and friendly, however, I can c what people r talking about with regards to costumer service from other staff.
F&B: had a flat white and yes they seem to like to add too much milk. I would say it is below standard for Australia The pastries were of a good quality though.
The place seems to have some previous good reputation (came here based on a recommendation from a friend who had been to Melbourne previously) they should work extra hard to keep it.
And, yes, many older couples come. Nothing wrong with that. I actually enjoyed some of the chats with them.

I don't usually leave reviews and this is probably my first one, but this place is the worst I've been to. Here are my two reasons.

    1. As a team leader, one should not yell at their staff in front of customers. This was witnessed at least 4 times. they have renovated recently, and the new owners or managers seem not to get it right either.

    2. As a bakery you would think that there would be a bread slicer. What was more annoying is that one of the staff members was already cutting the bread for someone else on the meat slicer (which can be used for bread), and I was told that I can't get my bread sliced. In saying this, I got my bread sliced on that same slicer the week before. The staff member then apologized and said "Sorry we can't cut your bread on the meat slicer", when I looked at the bread been sliced on the slicer, she just looked at me and said "Sorry". I mean you are clearly not sorry, but just outright refuse to do it.

I hope that the $1m they used to renovate the place has some spare change to get the necessary utensils a bakery actually needs and not just a glossy new floor.

It's decent. Refreshing palette cleanser to the usual hipster cafes. Coffee is fine but nothing astounding. French cafe fans this is for you.

I ordered a soy mocha and all I could really taste was milk. The caffeine was really weak and couldn't taste any chocolate.
    Service was friendly though

The food looked excellent and tasted great but the service was very basic and prices were over the top. 2 sweet slices for $20!!

Good coffee, cakes, sandwiches, and pastries. Good service. Mostly small tables but they can be joined together. Fairly quiet

This is by far the worst cafe in the area and, quite possibly, anywhere in Melbourne. The service is truly abominable and the prices are so exaggeratedly high as to be preposterous. There are other much better places around. Avoid at all costs.

Friendly service great food and coffee. Early morning public holiday and the shop was impeccably clean and good conversation. Will return for sure.
