This resort has moved to another level over the past twelve months. The food is constantly amazing, the staff are happy to be there which adds to the atmosphere of the entire resort.
Our family would recommend King Reef Resort to anyone seeking the ultimate QLD country/Great Barrier Reef getaway.
    Five stars!!!.

Booked into the resort with 6 friends. Accommodation excellent, clean with good amenities, great views. However, the pub meals were very disappointing. We all ordered together, 6 meals were delivered however mine and my wife's dinners did not arrive until I questioned a waitress as to where they were. 10 minutes later (after my friends had finished dinner) ours arrived half cooked.(they obviously had forgotten ours)
I advised the waitess when she collected our half eaten food, only to be told she would advise the cook. No refund was offered.
I would stay at the resort in the future but eat at the cafe across the road. Other friends from Cairns have had the same experience as us.

Beautiful! A resort and camping at area right on a private beach. Camped here a couple.of nights on a day trip from Cairns. Was very quite, spaced out and clean! They offer a pub, pokies, restaurant, live music and a little cafe for breakfast! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.. definitely will return

What a HUGE disappointment, after reading so many great reviews!
I realise it was possibly a bigger night than they calculated for but with a Party booking and lots of booked tables you would think that they would have been able to manage the night but clearly not, we were told when we rang up to book a table for 8, that the Restaurant was fully booked but we were welcome to sit in the bar area, Apon arrival we noticed tables without reserved on them so asked at the Food ordering area and was told yes its fine to sit there, Great! we ordered our meals to be told there was a 40 min wait, yes that's fine totally understood coming from a managerial hotel background.
Went to get Mocktails only to be told from stressed, sad faced bar staff they were not available, due to the volume of patrons, DISAPOINTED As it was more than doable, and now the Meals, order at 7.30pm 8.30 no entrée as yet, no children's meals, asked the Manager as he walked past he said he would follow it thro, eventually the entrée and children's meals were out, 9.30 the table that ordered after us were getting very Peeved to say the least as well as many others. then the table that ordered 3 consumers after us were told there meal would be out next when they asked about what was taking so long. Needless to say we asked to see the Manager and get a refund and go back to our lodgeings and create vegemite on toast, only to be told yes its been very busy I should have closed the kitchen earlier ( Is this what you want to hear, DEFINATLY NOT.)
Management are responsible for the running it starts at the top you only have yourself to BLAME, you need better communication within and between the staff, more direction more of an understanding to cater for a bigger night especially when its mostly planned in the bookings, Clearly and I didn't see how many staff were on in the kitchen they couldn't cope with the volume of plated meals Planning is the key. I do praise the young lass that was taking the meal orders tho, she was so polite and so consumer focussed a model employee to any establishment, BUT what was happening was totally out of her control. She was telling Consumers what she had been told a 40 min wait!
I sure hope you learn a valuable lesson from this!

Quick service (especially the kids meals) and the most amazing location you could imagine. Decent pub food at very decent prices. Drinks are relatively expensive, though.
