As a local we go to the falls several times a year and its amazing.

The drive from Townsville to Cairns is full of amazing and picturesque places. Josephine falls is a fantastic places to stop and break your drive is Josephine Falls. This stunning multi-tiered waterfall is surrounded by beautiful dense rainforest. Its about 3.5 hours drive north from Townsville and about an hour drive south from Cairns, so if you are in Cairns, this can be a beautiful day trip 🤗The falls are famous for cascading over a massive flat boulder and this way forming a natural water slide 😍 And my, oh, my, it is heaps of fun to slide down and splash about 💦💦💦 For those taking the little ones there, it is worth knowing that there is a nice picnic spot in about five minutes drive called 'Golden Hole' where they can run around after a few hours splashing and you can chill and relax (the last two pics). Russell River that runs next to it, apparently is also a good fishing spot 😀 So if you are yet to see these falls, you should be jumping in the car and driving there the next chance you get 😉

My favorite spot around cairns! A fantastic walk though the forest and supplies with picnic tables and bathrooms. Plenty of large rocks for everyone to chill out on and of course the waterside off the lower section of the waterfall. As cairns can get very hot it's nice to have a place where the water is always cold (just jump in to avoid screams) 😂 overall very enjoyable for everyone!

Went here spontaneously and loved it. Wished we had known about it earlier so we could have spent more time. There are toilets in the car park. Picnic tables. Short walk on sealed paths. Gorgeous view. Take your bathers!

There are a lot of beautiful waterfalls in this area, but this has the best swimming area out of all of them. There is a natural formed water slide in the first pool. The water is cool but not cold and it is crystal clear.

The 600m walk to Josephine Falls from the car park is definitely worth the effort. Visitors are rewarded with numerous rock pools filled with crystal clear cool water.

Capturing the very essence of the Coastal FNQ tropics, Josephine Falls is an absolute must see for any visitor to the region. The local Rangers have done a wonderful job of setting the scene for the magical atmosphere and sublime beauty of the falls. Careful of the Restricted Access top pool, where access is off limits, due to the extreme danger of its precarious falls and rocks.

The water is crystal clear, you can see over 2mt deep. Absolutely amazing. Great flora too
