I haven't been here since it was galactic circus and I was impressed to see the giant Galaga machine. I was treated like a royal by Daniel and Neville after the screens on the giant wheel game stopped working
Had alot of Fun in Playtime, didn't play any of the ticket games myself but bowling was a major highlight for me.
Fun way to blow an hour or two if you're in the area. Good way of loading in money and tickets using an RFID card so you aren't lugging around tiggets. Protip: Load a higher amount, and you'll get a bigger amount added to your total. Protip #2: Go find a game called BishiBashi, you won't regret it.
Best security there. Returned my wallet safely
highly recommended
There should be a time limit where somebody is allowed to stay on one game, The Midnight Maximum Tune car racing games were all hogged by 6-8 Asians constantly swiping their card without anybody else having a go. We were there for an hour and it was the same people on the machine the whole time and it was one of the games I wanted to play the most. So unfair.
Won all the rounds of the monkey swing game to win 1200 tickets, yet the points mysteriously haven't been credited to my card throughout the course of the evening. I asked a young assistant behind the counter and he gave me half arsed answer consisting of - "your points are probably being counted."
It's a shame because the place is a generally a good laugh for the competitive arcades but the machines that encourage you to actually win a prize or tickets are quite obviously rigged.
Don't think I'll be returning.
me and my friends were helped by some hot-headed game technician. I think his name was 'Roque'. He was a total dick to us. In fact, the whole staff seemed to.be pretty miserable. But apart from that the games were pretty cool. Can't go wrong with Bishi Bashi
What happened to this place? My family and I were expecting a fun day at what we thought was still the best arcade in Melbourne, for many great memories were had at the old Galactic Circus venue. Instead, we rocked up to a place full of letdown and chaos. No doubt there were plenty of the new game machines but the majority seemed to be either non-functional or out of order. Great start. Though the biggest letdown was customer service from management as well as floor staff. No real professionalism and or even warm friendliness were shown to us. Furthermore, it looked like none of their team members were even remotely happy to be working there. I mean really what's happened? I swear it didn't use to be like this. How disappointing to see a place that use to be the best arcade venue in Melbourne has now turned to utter crap.
The claw machines are substantially rigged, yes I know they are meant to be. But the strength and payout of the call machines are way too far weak and beyond a level of acceptance. Some prizes are good but you could literally spend $50 to $75 just to activate the strength of the claw. They give you free money when you buy a card but only to have it wasted on a claw that is programmed to drop the plush as soon as you lift it up, tricking you into thinking that you are skilled. The prizes you can claim and trade in you tickets are good but if you really want them go to just go to eBay. Never ever fall into a trap of trying to get something from them as it may cost $150 to get a $20 item. Might be fun if you just play the arcade games but the old classic are gone and replaced with money grabbing claws and a flawed ticketing system.
In the end, it's hard to have fun when your being ripped off. Won't be back.
I've spent countless anniversaries at Galactic Circus, it's our favourite place to go every year. My partner and I were excited to check out the supposedly "new and improved" Galactic Circus last night and by golly were we left disappointed. Between the Rigged claw machines that cost more than the prize itself, and the lack of ticket games, playtime Crown is one hell of a let down. Old classics like Time Crisis and NASCAR & Pod Racing were nowhere to be seen, but seemed to be replaced with money grabbing kids apps turned in to machines. Playtime Crown is no longer an arcade. It's literally a children's casino.
My overall experience was fairly low and to be honest won't be coming back any time soon. Firstly what's with 80% of arcade being rigged claw machines, rigged prize machines that cost $5 per play lol and crappy ticket win machines. This isn't an arcade it's a casino aimed at children. There are only a hand full of games that are actually fun to play, the rest just a sorry money grab designed to get maximum returns and leave you thinking why the hell did i come here. This place sucks avoid it and go to Timezone
