Description

Wiltipolls are a relatively new Australian breed of self shedding sheep, originally sourced from the wiltshire horn breed and initially crossed with other poll (hornless) breeds such as poll dorset to get the dominant poll gene into the breed. They were then crossed back with wiltshire to retain the fleece self shedding characteristic.
This gives us an easy care animal that doesn't need shearing, mulesing or crutching, and is less difficult to handle due to their absence of horns.
With their english origins, they have solid , infection resistant feet, which I believe sets them apart from other mainstream self shedding breeds such as dorper and damara that are more adapted to hotter dryer climates.
Wiltipolls make excellent mothers, and we have had over 200 % lambing percentages ( twins are common, triplets not unusual)
Being a small operation, we can take extra care with our lambs and have had great success using home paddocks, guardian alpacas, stabling at night, and fox lights etc.
As of 2014 , we have ewe lambs for sale to potential hobby farmers and those wanting to start a flock with sound genetics.
