I have to question if we are living in a democratic society when one of my competitors complains about me and I was investigated by this department. Waste of tax payers money, I was treated like a criminal it what was an obvious smear campaign by a non-consumer. I had been practicing for 11 years in my industry and my family 40 without a single complaint. Obviously the outcome was favorable to myself but everyone I mentioned this to was outraged and made comment to what a load of rubbish.I have 10/10 reviews from my consumers and clients. I found it to be emotionally draining and distracting and am considering a 'freedom of information' to find out who is trying to slander me because this department called it an "industry representative who wishes to remain anonymous" , how gutless! Bait pricing and under-quoting is rife in rife in Perth at current. Why don't they go pick on some obvious deception and do their jobs properly. Like Auction properties i have recorded "bidding from 800K" and sell at 1.2 million. Bring back the board whom were reasonable and not looking to justify jobs in their department. Since amalgamating with Dept of Mines they seem to be on a crusade for notoriety. I'm still in utter disbelief. It it obvious to me by the reviews this department are receiving the quality of work they're doing.
Spoke to John today about a requirement to be provided for vacant land block as a developer and he was very knowledgeable. Most people don't take time to compliment so let us also encourage good service, to give opportunity to improve
Lodged a formal formed complaint about 2 businesses but was told that they have no legal power to do anything. Why ask me to fill up detailed forms of the issue then? I don't need talk therapy. Was asked to take legal action on my own
Seriously this is just a joke, customers are calling for help and asking for protection against seller coz we do not know most of the laws. and you advise to talk with the dealer rather obviously dealer wont take any responsibility. Such a rude behaviour with customers who already in trouble and knoking your door never expected that. Feels like just sitting and doing nothing for custmoers still getting paid from our tax.
Did you see that how lazy they are just copy and past same reply on negative reviews, such pathetic withought reading the review
I found both their website and phone service very helpful. Obviously they aren't there to give legal advice but definately helped point me in the right direction. Was amazed that my call was answered straight away too
I frequently recommend that people call DOCEP, to get unbiased, rational advice. I am a trader, and call them when I need to clarify a point of trader/consumer behaviour. I have ALWAYS found DOCEP to be helpful, even when I may have not liked what they told me! I'm writing this, in rebuttal of all the negative reviews I have just read!

This department is a joke.
Had an issue with a dodgy business, complained to this organisation, was told of this so called conciliation they try to do between complainant and business. After all the up and down mumbo jumbo, was told the business doesn't want to come to the party and there is nothing they can do. Was told to take it to the courts.
This organisation is a total waste of tax payers money. It's there for nothing!
Used Computer Trader has Goods not returnable or refundable, and Warranties will be given as exchange only . The Consumer Protection does nothing but wag their finger.....A joke in making business compliant.
All evidence provided to the department for investigation regarding a malice business. However, instead of carrying out a through investigation to find out if the company have breached any consumer law(s), all I received was a quick unsatisfactory "closing letter" after a so-called conciliation process and I was told to seek legal advice. I let the case officer know that I could not afford legal costs - the response I received was that there was nothing Consumer Protection could do to help me. Totally hopeless !
