I went to Curtin for a few weeks years ago. Had to pay thousands for nothing, as they told me the wrong census date. They charged me my full fees when I left, due to their error (which was about a day late). I even disputed it due to it being their error, which they refused to admit.

Now I attend an amazing uni that provide so much support, to which I realise how bad Curtin was for the way they treated me.

Graduated with Bachelor of Arts here. University is very clean, layout is very nice, the library has nap stations! Lecturers were hit and miss, Lee Ingram and Dan The Man (DFTF crew, represent!) went above and beyond while some lecturers demotivated students with their feedback. Also, did my study abroad to Japan and that was a wild 6 months I will never forget!

Curtin University has some really great facilities. Some of the toilets aren't that great. Study areas and learning equipment is world class.

Pathetic support.
I was put hours in for hold, just to fix my enrollment, which is also the problem in their end.
For such a big organization, I expected the support to be better. I wasted more than 3 hours of my time, just to tell them to help me for problem they have in their system.

It's all about the money, money, money. Should be Curtin University's theme song. I know it's a 'business' of sorts. But people should be aware that that's all that Curtin University cares about. Whether they get your hard earned money, or the Government's money, it's all the same to Curtin. Money and profit first and.nope, learning and study isn't even last. It's just a side piece. After you graduate it's so long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye, and they couldn't give a flying you-know-what about you or whether you even land a job after all your years of study. Not just Curtin I'm sure. I just think prospective students deserve to know the harsh reality of universities today.

Although the course content isn't a problem the lecturers & tutors are not contactable via phone. The appeals for assignment grading is a nightmare & the won't review your notes that verify you (the student) have done no wrong in terms of referencing & so forth. Wanted some help from various people but didn't get it. Might look at moving to a more professional University if I can (maybe) but might have to lump it out as I'm stuck with Open Uni. Can't prove myself via the telephone to go through each reference one by one (there were only six). My notes scribbled clearly on the paper I scanned in weren't read it would seem & the complaints people sided with the lecturers. This is NOT a personal attack on anyone particular person more so the ways complaints are handled. Not being able to do this via a mobile phone call isn't fair. I can't even prove myself even with evidence. I did my best but got no help, even with a computer network error that the lecturer was able to confirm with IT support *sigh*. Next is the WA complaints government people. Assignment one one particular course very unclear. Said six annotations which I did & we had to copy & paste the form from a UNI in NSW & had to incorporate that into Libre Office on laptop & test it in DOC form in Mac 2011 which it worked. Was told some were missing & were first name first not last name first. After triple checking it it was Last name first so I did no wrong yet still got low grades for them not reading it properly. Had a nightmare with the Library - may try a transfer to a much more professional University. So many emails for help & direct phone calls HAVE BEEN IGNORED. My sent box will verify this.

It's a great business, Curtin. An excellent means of earning cash over an extended period of time, if not, almost forever so as long as enrolment continues rampently. Sorry to jump onto a tangent here, after all, it's a university but I'd just call it a business at this point. Aimed at profiting, increasing enrolments, increased graduates and increased average grades is great an all but there are underlying issues that I can't simply explain through some Google review. To put it bluntly, they enrol every person at their doorstep, almost every course is accepting students left right and centre. Lack of practicality in courses, crowded classes, lack of availability of classes, flexibility is limited in timetables, lack of trained and fluent staff, student services overcrowded with poor attitude and methods at handling situations at times, not all the time, and excessive transfer of information and material onto their Blackboard platform, I mean, who needs books anymore, right? All being said though, not a bad thing, futuristic, forward with technology, efficient, fairly clean, fairly good facilities that is just barely keeping up with the sheer number of people at Curtin and mass enrolments means everyone gets the opportunity to study at a modern university. Having said that, it's a question of debt, time, what people are really signing up for and the core values of a university, simply studying at one was once a badge you'd wear proudly, now it's over saturated and a burden on ones shoulder, you'd be looked upon as a person under financial stress studying at one now. Don't worry though, gets the job done at least. Success rate is about 70%, but only 40% of graduates are guaranteed jobs relative to their degree and don't fall for the HECS trap, failing any unit, adding a single semester, etc. drastically adds to the bills. It's a rant with exaggeration, but it's a down to earth view on the place. Good luck.

It is also involved in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and culture, supported by its Centre for Aboriginal Studies. So according to me a best place to study to make your future bright in science field.

In 2011-12 I had a brilliant exchange year from the UK. I had to really raise my game to keep up but the education was absolutely second to none. I worked about 60 hours a week over 4 modules and came home with all Higher Distinction grades. With their fantastic, well researched lectures, critique on our writing, feedback on practical work and my own input, I came home to the UK and achieved a First for my degree, plus the Best in Show award. Thank you so much Curtin Uni.

Nice campus and facilities. Plenty of open spaces and places to walk. Seems there is always something new on display. It doesn't have the old world charm of some campuses (eg Sydney Uni and Uni of WA) but has a good variety of architectural styles that interest. Visitors should at least do the Charles Court walk which goes through the middle. Food shops appear plentiful and cater to varied tastes. Parking is a problem (as it is on many campuses). There is a major bus port with links to the City, Fremantle and train stations.

Oh sorry, it's a university but I'd just call it a business at this point because they're just aiming at earning more and more $$. Enrolling every person at their doorstep, almost every course is accepting students left right and centre. Not a bad thing, everyone gets the opportunity to study at a university, but it's a question of debt, time and what people are really signing up for. Don't worry guys, 0.59% of graduates are guaranteed jobs and HECS got your back too!
