Apparently from what I've been told, the Malanda Hotel is the largest completely timber built hotel in the Southern Hemisphere. I certainly wouldn't doubt that. This is an absolutely huge pub. Fair dinkum, the main barroom is that huge, you could have a game of cricket in there and not knock over anyone's beer. That's how big it is. Apart from that it's a well built building. It is over 100 years old. As you would expect, there's plenty of local people that are able to tell you more history of not only the pub, but the township itself. There's plenty of accomodation available. Good quality at a cheap price. In the bar on Friday/Saturday nights there's usually a band to keep you entertained. As well as friendly locals. Easy going, relaxing environment. Nothing to worry about. The feed from the dining room is top quality. Fair price and adequate quantity. Obviously there's heaps of cold XXXX served at the bar. Believe me, you won't go thirsty. In short, go to the Malanda Hotel, have a beer or two and a feed as well, kick back and enjoy yourself. Excellent pub. 11 out of 10.
