We waited twenty minutes for a flat white and a latte. When they finally arrived, they were almost cold. They replaced the FW for a hot one pretty quick but wifey didn't want to get hers changed as she thought we'd be waiting another twenty minutes. It was a decision she would later regret. One star, guys.

Came in for some drinks after eating elsewhere and noticed it was two for one cocktails.

The service was quite slow as we wanted to know if we could sit outside and get the drinks brought to us we could see other people getting ignored, but the waitresses did seem busy.

Service at the bar was good, served quickly and the drinks were brought out to the table. The first drinks were delicious so we decided to order more.

The second lot weren't so good, really really sour and I had two of the same which looked and tasted different to each other. It also took over 20 minutes for the second round to come out.

I'd 100% go again but maybe only when offers are on and expect a delay!

We dropped in on the way home for a quick family dinner on Wednesday night. We managed to nab a great table even though it looked packed with people enjoying a mild Spring evening by the river. Our order was taken quite quickly and drinks came out soon after and then the food soon after that. Our table ordered pizza and burgers which were really tasty. Service was efficient, helpful and friendly. Prices were reasonable; we liked the Wednesday night $18 pint and pizza deal. The only criticism I have is that the music was a little loud but apart from that it was the perfect quick family meal.

Wish i could give it a 0 rating.

Ordered a coffee had no hazelnut or caramel syrup.

Ordered a big breakfast. No sourdough bread. No whole wheat. No brown bread.

No avocados because "we're so busy sorry".

After waiting for 35 minutes.. we ended up leaving as the food had not arrived.

Best decision of that day.. leaving this dump and going next door to the greek joint. Food came out 3 minutes after ordering and it went down like a dream.

I visited BearBrass on a Monday morning for breakfast. I wasn't thrilled. We were advised that their gluten free bread order had not yet arrived, so we needed to discount that as an option. That wasn't actually a big deal for us. But they also told us there were no avocados as they'd had a big weekend and were out. In hindsight, we should have pulled the pin then but we'd already ordered coffees so we persisted.
I noted on the menu that 'extras' for bacon or avocado were $5 each! I think that's pretty rich. I ordered the Big Breakfast, requesting no toast or hash browns (can never be sure they're actually GF). With the lack of avocados, the plate of two poached eggs, bacon, a couple of field mushrooms, a scoop of spinach and two halves of grilled tomato was cooked ok, but not outstanding. My husband and son ordered the Tuna Poke bowls. Very disappointing in appearance....rice, tuna, eggplant, nori sprinkles and a mayonnaise-based sauce. There was supposed to be avocado but..... The poke servings were on the small side (you get much better value going to 'Poked'....fresh, a range of ingredients, a choice of sauces and cheaper!).
For what we were being charged, it was all a bit underwhelming. I probably would have let it slide, but remember....$5 for avocado as an 'extra'. We had three meals which were all supposed to come with avocado, no option for gluten-free bread, and two lattes. The bill was $72!! It would have been a positive gesture if they'd given some sort of discount for the lack of avocado at least. With so many cafes doing so many great things in Melbourne for breakfast, I regret going to Bear Brass, and I won't bother returning.

WARNING: Their beer bucket deal is for a hieneken MID strength. Must be the only place in Melbourne that they exist. No signage. Deceptive. Also rodent problem as previously identified.

Coffee was great for a bar. Friendly staff with great service. Keen to go back for Pimms on the deck chairs.

    CHECK YOUR BILL.
Food quality good, though breakfast menu (until 1100 on Sundays) not anything special and somewhat limited. Currently have Bloody Marys on offer at $10.00 (normally $16) - they are spectacularly good. You must try at least one.

BUT - check your bill. Ours was over $63 for a serve of fruit loaf and two drinks. Upon checling my receipt I pointed out it was wrong - we hadn't had sparkling water, lattes etc as detailed. They redid the bill and upon checking again found they were overcharging each drink by $6.00. After they again re did the bill, I settled the true amount: $23.00. A big gap on what was originally demanded.

Dropped in Sunday evening around 7pm to have a drink and a look. Very disappointing. Bar staff not interested in providing service [backpacker I think] worst beer I have ever tasted. Flat and certainly didn't taste like any Fat Yak I have had before. Venue is good though with a good view of the city and river.

RODENT ISSUE: We went there Friday night and service and food were great BUT it doesn't make up for the fact that they have a major rodent problem. I watched families of mice running in and out of the kitchen and staff just walking over them. We flagged with the waiter staff who were all well aware of the situation and finished our sentence regarding the issue. 'You may not know but...' to the response 'Oh yeah we know but we can't do anything about it.' Prior to that we had paid the bill and left a tip before discovering this health risk and the general nonchalant attitude to addressing it. We then raised it to the manager who was aware as well saying 'they come from the outside'. At that point, our whole bill should have been refunded not a round of drinks. The reality is food should not be served when there are mice running around the kitchen and restaurant.
