Great variety of movies here
If you love classic film, this is a haven. Definitely the best theatre in Melbourne (actually it's one of the reasons I moved here). Prices are good considering they're almost all double features.
One of the last great old theatres. Best seat upstairs seems to be the very front row middle.
Beautiful 1930s theatre - get there 45 mins early so you can sit upstairs
"There is no end. There is no beginning. There is only the infinite passion of life"Fellini was talking about this Theatre for sure
Every city has a cinema, but it's the 75-year-old, two-tiered art deco edifices that are getting thin on the ground. Make sure you see something projected on the Astor’s gigantic screen.
Awesome vintage cinema ideally suited to catching movies that have stopped running at Village / Hoyts or just an old classic. Wicked Wednesday's get you a double movie pass for $10.
Fantastic old fashioned cinema, showing new and classic movies in 35mm, 70mm, 2k and 4k. Fine films and atmosphere.
Buy a block of tickets. Go as often as you can, and make it your regular movie spot.
Bring a cushion if the movie is over two hours long.
RIP Marzipan :(
Say hello to Marzipan and give her a gentle pat.
The popcorn is delicious, you can get a glass of wine to take in, the seats are old but comfy, the screen is huge, and Marzipan the famous theatre cat (now age 21) loves a pat!
One of the best movie theatres in the Melbourne area. The choc-tops are a must. You get good luck if you see the cat.
Keep supporting this wonderful establishment to keep it alive!
Say hello to Marzipan, the Astor's resident cat, then go get your choctop from the very reasonably priced candy bar.
Awesome choc tops.
Best place to see a period film!
Look out for the cat that roams around inside the theatre! :D
Settle in for a movie double.
