Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and well appointed, some have a nice view of the garden. The breakfast is ok but only do it if you're in a hurry. Only blight is that Internet should be free and fast in 2017 but for some reason they charge.
Had good facilities and staff were very accommodating
This hotel has declined over the years. Have been using this Richmond hotel for some 10 years. Recognition of this is not a priority for their customers as shave the niceties for wanting to stay there.
When there was an over site on our behalf when making reservation, they were not willing to correct it ie had to pay an extra $20 for parking. 10 yrs x approx. $200 = $2000 multipled by our group of 3 that has been doing this for the 10 years = $6000. They could not even waive a $20 fee.
Sorry for the sake $20 you have lost us by all concerned.
Great service. Beautiful rooms. Good range of drinks and space to relax. Late opened kitchen with scrumptious meals.
Gorgeous location, a short distance from, but also conveniently close enough to the Melbourne CBD.
Beautiful rooms, great services and charming surrounds.
Outstanding venue for functions (one of which I have the pleasure of attending at this location annually) very helpful and friendly staff
Convenient location. Comfortable beds and friendly service. Close to walking tracks and many shops and restraints on Bridge Road.
Beautiful surroundings right next to the park and the yarra! The building is very pretty also and the rooms are styled really nicely!
Very close to everthing. You can go shopping take a walk along the river. The are plenty of choices to eat. Start right at the Bridge hotel across road or wonder up Bridge road to a cafe or restaurants.
This is a sad day for me to have to write this review. Having stayed numerous times in Amora Sydney, experiencing everything they have to offer, penthouse, suites, lounges etc the Amora Hotel Riverwalk has really left a disappointing mark on me.
Firstly, the Amora Riverwalk is 4.5 star, whereas the Sydney Hotel is 5 star it only falls short of 1/2 star (i would say it is because Riverwalk doesn't have Valet). I expected that the entire Amora range would be the same, unfortunately it is not.
We were upgraded to a Spa Suite as we are VIP guests of the hotel, however, the Spa Suite only consists of a bathtub with jets. You cannot even fit two people in it. So, whilst you have a spa enjoying a glass of wine, your partner can sit on the bed and open the windows to watch you enjoy the relaxation and patiently wait for your turn.
We were telephoned by the day manager and were asked if we would like to move to the penthouse suite (not actually a penthouse, it was just a two bedroom townhouse which we graciously declined)
The bedroom, room 403 has absolutely no privacy, and very limited security. Our room does not face the courtyard (Where most of the other complaints are) rather we are facing the street and have city views. Your balcony is protected by a small fence with all of the other rooms that is only the height of a foot-hip length. Meaning, other guests can walk onto your balcony and into your room should you choose to sleep with the balcony door open for fresh air. Furthermore, you need to ensure that the sheer curtains and the block-out curtains are closed, otherwise other guests can see you laying in your bed from their balcony.
When we stay at our other preferred hotels, Sheraton, Sofitel and Pullman we know that we receive the same standard around the world, however, it is saddening that you do not receive the same service as the Amora Sydney.
Do not get me wrong, check-in agent was polite and courteous, as always with any Amora hotel. Due to our experience with Amora Riverwalk Melbourne we probably would never stay here again.
When making reference to the manager through conversations about the difference between the two properties he replied "we have more corporate customers" which is totally understandable, having said this; this hotel should not have the same name as the other Amora hotels in Sydney, Auckland and Bangkok because this hotel is vastly different to all the others.
In conclusion here is the following points that may be of interest.
Pros
Tram is at front door, 48 and 75 go directly into the city every 10 minutes. The hotel has large rooms for corporate events, a standard queen room facing the courtyard seems to be issues for other guests, in terms of noise, however the rooms facing the street do not seem to have much noise at all when the balcony doors are closed. The service of the staff is as expected throughout the Amora Group. Ample parking is available on site. The beds on level 4 were all replaced in Jan 2017. (Apparently)
Cons.
The hotel is outdated and distasteful decor. The pricing for this hotel is not comparable to the other hotels in the Amora Group and therefore, this would be considered more of a 'budget' hotel in their range. The air-conditioning unit in the rooms are controlled by a dial, not digital and therefore, gets cold quickly as it isn't regulating the temperature correctly. Parking is $20 per night, which is extremely steep as the car park is owned by Amora Group and is not 'rented' from a third party company. As the beds are new, they are very uncomfortable. There is no privacy if you are on level 4 as your balcony is shared by other units on the same level, separated by a small fence between them. The rooms are oddly shaped and therefore, the furniture looks like it has just been 'thrown in', the rooms are standard (based on a King Superior Spa Suite), however not what one would expect for a 4.5 star hotel.
We weren't staying here but were attending as part of a convention. Panel rooms and public areas were open, inviting, clean. Great staff service, constantly refilling water stations. Very friendly bar staff who were willing to make custom cocktails. Food served throughout the day. Good AV tech supplied and as far as I could tell, went off without a hitch.
A suggested for your next function or event.
