Usually crowded. More on the sweeter side of ice cream. Must try when you are in Vienna.
very Good ice Cream, prices a bit high, very much traffic so plan a little time for your visit
Awesome place to enjoy ice-cream. Opens only in summers. Best ice-cream, good view and the taste is just awe. Only problem is the wait..
Best ice-cream in Vienna. No discussion whatsoever. Ladies working there are part of it's charm. Be ready for long queue though.
Amazing ice cream. Delicious desserts choices.
Must try Marilleknödel..
The worst experience in our whole Vienna trip. I would give 2 stars because it wasn’t the worst ice-cream in the world but since we were so hyped for this place (heard good stuff) and it was such a big let down I must give just 1.
First thing we saw after getting out of the U2 today was some old dated communist signs that looked horribly. Well first impression is first impression but we wanted to let the ice-cream do the talking and not how the place looks so we proceeded to buy some.
Well just to make things clear. If we hadn’t heard about Tichy before we would just turn around and went back to the center and eat the amazing ice cream there. Thats how horrible the place looks.
So to continue with my Tichy review. I ordered chocolate and lemon and my girlfriend banana and pistachio. Well mine wasn't that bad but compared to some other places in Vienna it just wasn't up to par. Also it felt like it defrosted and it has been cooled too much too quickly and there were some frosty flakes in it. But my gf's ice-cream on the other hand was a completely different story. Both pistachio and banana tasted the same after some alcohol. You couldn't taste either banana or pistachio in the ice-cream. Only difference in those two were the small pieces of pistachios in the pistachio one and a little bit different color. Also I wouldn't call those pistachios top tier probably some of the cheapest stuff on the market since they didn't have the nice pistachio flavor in them. Both of us didn't finish our cups thats how bad it was. It was just not worth finishing. The price is not astronomical for an ice-cream in Vienna but I wouldn't spent a cent on it again.
The only reason I can thing of why people are visiting this place is that they are first timers like us and heard good stories or they would find it little bit Spanish not to go there. Das kommt mir Spanisch vor right?
Well for me personally I will never ever visit Tichy again.
The last thing there is a big difference between something looking retro which is modern right now and something looking so dated like the owner doesn't give a damn anymore which is exactly how the whole place looks.
For me personally this is just a tourist trap, nothing more. You can find much better places for ice-cream in Vienna. Hope it helps someone.
Good place but too many people. Great ice cream!!! You must taste it.
The best ice cream in the world. The founder supported children and gave ice for free to everyone at the end of the season. You must try the famous Eismarillenknödel.
Delicious ice and quick service. We got out sodas two minutes after ordering. My personal favorite is the red wine ice. Definitively worth a trip.
Fantastic ice cream but very busy at times, I'd head into the salon if you have the time and sit down and enjoy the great ice cream.
Outside always has long lines but not always the case inside. The service is good but the trick is trying to get the waitresses attention!
if you happen to be in the area and there's no waiting cue, you can try it. you'll get a good quantity for a reasonable price. but don't think that's the best ice cream you can get rather check in the 1st district
This ice cream is a real treat! It's a little bit far off from the city center, so try to make it a day trip: go to the Bad first for a couple of hours and then have ice cream at Tichy. The Marillenkuegelen are so good that people are fedexing them abroad as a present for their loved ones.
Absolutely worthwhile a visit, if you want to get a glimpse at Vienna how it was a few decades ago. Definitely not the best ice-cream in Vienna. By far.
One of the best Ice Creams i have ever eaten in my life. The staff are very friendly. They have remembered me since my childhood which seems very nice. The "haselnuss" ice cream flavor tastes very organic and not like anything else 10/10 would recommend. The prices are also very reasonable. No doubt that i will be coming again and again👍🏼
