Thought provoking and very interesting place to visit.
A lot of care had been taken to provide wonderful memorials to mark the sorrow.
Easy place to find and free to visit.
We downloaded the audio before going which was ideal

Very impressive, good documentation. Unfortunately some people behave like they are in an amusement parc. As stated on their website: not suitable for children.

Very well preserved concentration camp. The guided tour in English is very informative, with vivid narration and history. Full price ticket is just €5 and discount price including student only €3. Our guide Martin is very knowledgeable and made the tour an invaluable experience. Definitely worth the visit!

Our visit to the memorial was a splendid one though it was extremely cold for a spring time visit, and rainy, but it did bring out the dramatic effect as well. The Mauthausen memorial is truly a jewel historically speaking and how parts of it have been preserved or reconstructed alongside those parts that have been left with marks of the past make for a truly compelling lesson, one that we should never forget nor repeat. Like all other WWII tributes and museums, it speaks of the horrific conditions of POWs and the tragedies done to the Jewish population, however unlike other places, it keeps intact pieces of history exactly as how they were and allow you to imagine the appalling conditions as can be seen in the prints left behind in the showers and toilets. Be sure to grab an audio guide as well both for your convenience and to help maintain the memorial.

Visiting a Concentration Camp has always been on my bucket list. I decided to be spontaneous and go today. I did the audioguide and I am so glad I did. It was only 3 euros. From the Mauthausen train station you can take a taxi. It costs 15 euros. I did that but I got to split the ride with some other visitors. It is about a ten minute drive, uphill. To take the bus there, take either bus 365 or 360. As the bus driver to take you toward the memorial. After the bus ride, there's about a 25 minute walk, uphill. It's a beautiful scenery though, and the camp is very worth it. To walk from the camp all the way back to the train station takes about 45 minutes. Lots of articles and artifacts. Very eerie, very real.

Most part of the concentration camp was not ruined and preserved in a very good condition. It's better to have at least 2 hours for viewing the whole exhibition.
