Kreuzenstein Castle is located not far from Vienna and is a nice and popular tourist destination. It is open for visits every day from april till the end of october. Very interesting is the fact, that Kreuzenstein was constructed out of sections of medieval structures purchased by the Wilczek family from everywhere in Europe in order to form an authentic-looking castle.

Castle is very beautiful and in good shape.
Maybe that's because it was build beginning with 1875.

Only guided tour are offered. They cost 10 Euro /person and last only 50 minutes. You see only a few rooms very quick. No photos are allowed.

At this size of the castle, a visit of 2-3 hours would be great.

For 10€ you get rushed through the castle. There isn't enough time to look at things and taking photographs is forbidden.

After the tour one person of our group gave some feedback at the entrance. He was friendly and polite and mentioned that it is very uncommon that taking photographs is forbidden at such places. The staff got very rude and some tall guy even started to shout at him and told him to piss off. Is this Austrian hospitality?

The castle isn't even that special. The whole thing is a bit of a rip-off!

Nice castle however the tour shows perhaps 30% of it. Also in my experience in most castles you are allowed to take photos (without flash) or make video, not in here though. It's a shame. We didn't eat in the restaurant outside but it seemed really cozy.

Very beautiful castle. 4 instead of 5-star because the only one multi-tasking staff who sold tickets and did guided tours had to ask people to leave the castle immediately after the short non-English speaking tour as she needed to rush back to the ticket booth for the next group. Also, she could provide only one copy of the poorly translated English summary of the tour for both my husband and I as she got the other copies taken away by tourists. The management should seriously think about a better way to run the business.
