We have been there in summer. It was very difficult to find by car. The have a wonderful view over the mountains. Rooms were clean. We only had breakfast there. We found better restaurants in Lienz. There was a good atmosphere, better than in the Haidenhof. For checking-in we had to wait quite a long time. And we didn’t get the room which we were told before. The lady at the reception sounded not very friendly to us.Haidenhof was a bit expensive. We got a better value on other places in Austria.

On the web the Haidenhof says to do everything to comfort guests. First we got good meals we a reasonable time of waiting. Two days later we had to wait 1 1/4 of an hour to get the main course served. The excuse was simply: Sorry for that. One the next day we also hat to wait more than ¾ of an hour. That seems too much for us.The Restaurant looked old fashioned. But they have a really stunning view over the valley. But only when having nice weather. They also brew beer. It looks like British ale. But it tastes is completely different. Probably the process of brewing had gone the wrong way. Most food they serve is a bit of fat. So be careful with keeping the weight down there. Room prices were fairly high for the quality of service. And if not hiking, it is difficult to find attractive sights around. After talking to the director, she apologized for having that inconvenience and it became a bit better. But advert on the net and reality still were very different. So we didn’t feel very well or relaxed after that week. I wouldn’t recommend the Haidenhof to anyone, except they find a cheap “smart deal offer” or you are looking for a very quiet place.
