Description

As per the 2015 winter semester, the University of Art and Design Linz offers a new bachelor programme in Fashion & Technology.

This programme is a course in contemporary fashion design with a focus on innovation and technology.

In this context, students work both with traditional, crafts-based techniques and with new high-tech developments such as 3D print, laser cut or digital printing.

Smart textiles and wearables as well as social responsibility and sustainability in production processes are key themes of the curriculum.

Co-operation projects with research-oriented institutions such as the Future Lab of Ars Electronica or the Linz Center of Mechatronics as well as partners from the field of industry enable students to discover – and independently evolve – the full process chain from fibres to finished collections.

Participation in shows, competitions and trips to trade fairs and production companies is likewise part of the curriculum.

Moreover, an international practice stint and workshops with experts in the areas of fashion design, photography, styling and PR ensure a hands-on approach to the fashion sector.

The programme is domiciled at Tabakfabrik Linz. Starting with the 2016 winter semester, the bachelor curriculum will be followed by an internationally oriented master programme that is unique in its kind in Europe.

Career options: fashion design, styling, fashion marketing, stage and film costume design, newly emerging professions extending between fashion and industry.
