We were on a tour and the concept of a Heuriger was new to us. This restaurant is housed in an old farmhouse and all of the rooms are dining areas. The food typical Austrian and was very good and served in generous quantities. That which was served would be typical of a Heuriger dinner. I don't recall the name of the wine, but it was also very, very good. Our group was large enough to fill the Augustin Stube completely. The Accordionist and violinist serenaded us most of the evening. They, of course, wanted tips, but were enjoyable nonetheless.
There is both upstairs and downstairs dining, but the upstairs seems to be reserved for groups. The restrooms are in the basement, down several flights of stairs. But they are clean, and along the way, you walk through a museum of sorts, filled with photos and old farm and vineyard equipment.
This establishment fronts on a busier street and I found no visible parking areas.
A few days ago, we invited a friend from France to the Schreiberhaus, for her to discover the famous Vienna schnitzel. It was not a pleasant experience, I regret to say. The only thing we would remember is the inordinately high price we have paid for not a good quality food,. The portions were mean. The schnitzel was served without any side dish, just on its own. . The service was bad. We waited ages. The waiter (a lady) could not careless. Not a single smile in her face. As the restaurant seem to cater more for tourists than locals, they do not care. We wiil never go back there again. It does not even deserve the one star we are giving.
Good food, very good wine, nice ambiente outdoor, service is ok
Wonderful family run wine tavern, one of many in Vienna. Wine runs freely and food is very traditional - pork and sauerkraut, schnitzel, roasted potatoes, meat and cheeses, salad,.. And the strudel! All with noise, accordions, and in general just fun. A tour stop for some (upstairs) but a restaurant for locals as well (downstairs). And the largest collection of antique corkscrews!
Awesome experience. The food was great. It came to the table in courses, starting with bread and tomatoes. Wine served at the table. Meat and cheeses arrive and then the main courses with pork, chicken, schnitzel & potatoes. Meal ends with Apple strudel! Really enjoyable evening with musical entertainment provided.
Great wine, really good food and great atmosphere. A fun time to be had, especially when with a large (tour) group.
"Historic" ambience and apparently a former in-Heuriger. Good location (own bus stop :-)) but unfortunately neither the wine nor the food were convincing (buffet).
Good place for food and local wine. A tad touristy and the fat lady at the bar is a little scary :-)
During a short holiday in Vienna my wife and I went there for a private birthday celebration drinking "Heurigen" a lot.
It was so nice that we came back to this place 3 more times.
Excellent traditional food and beside the nice to drink "Heurigen" also superb wines a la carte served in a nice atmosphere and lush garden.
Always friendly and attentive staff.
Hope to be back to Schreiberhaus soon.
The food is really bad. I ordered a sandwich, and they served some black bread with onion and green sour paprika.
Nice location for bigger thirsty groups. Overall food quality is okay but not excellent.
