SEEKING FOR APPLE-STRUDEL
-We were there on the Monday evening, somewhere about 19:30, and the place was barely crowded. Big variety of coffee (americano is around 5€). Also killed apple and cheese strudels, which were good (not excellent, maybe 7,5 out of 10), but it’s worth mentioning, that they were freshly made and size of portion is bigger then in other places.
-We were also lucky to listen to some live piano music, which compensated lacking “oldish” atmosphere. Staff was also ok.
-4 stars, because of the prices and overall OK feeling. Feels like this place was cool some time ago, but became a victim of touristic fever. Probably will not come here again, only in case of emergency (starving/freezing/nowhere else to go)
Its a classic, very nice and Vienesse, but in terms of the quality and taste - it's not the best in Vienna! But, worth the ambience :)
If you want to experience "taste" of old Vienna come here. It is typical old styled Vieneese restaurant offering coffee, local dishes and cakes. We had something from their's daily menu and it was interesting and good. Popular place for a reason.
Beautiful setting in old Vienna. Good coffee and croissant.
Impersonal service (comically so) and no wifi. Menu is very ordinary and with no vegan option.
This place is my third coffeehouse visit in Vienna. I ordered einspänner and it didn't disappoint! (Like the one here better than the last one I went..). Perfect short break from the St. Stephen Cathedral visit!
Rude staff, no smiles. Refused to let us order food without getting a drink! €3.1 euro for an espresso!!! Would not recommend, would not come back.
No credit cards. Famous cafe and usually always pleases. Waiters are a lot friendlier than last time I was here.
a very pleasant place, obviously haunted by locals. Not sure how they stay so slim. I"m sure we soaked up 1200 kcal in lovely, gooey stuff. Pleasant staff, helpful to strangers.
Staff is like made of sturdy stone - no smiles, no welcoming words. The drinks were good but still it felt like "here is your order. Finish it faster and gimme you money". If you look for a nice emotion in a typical Vienna coffee try somewhere else.
Found this place via reviews and wasn't disappointed, make sure you have cash though as they do not take plastic.
Perfect example of the type: cosy but grand Viennese café. Lovely cakes. Friendly staff. The Milchrahmstrudel is a fine thing.
Enjoyable to have the pianist playing festive tunes while we ate. Food was OK. Service was sullen.
Cosy, clean and friendly. The piano player was great, supplying decent background music. Food was very good and reasonably priced. The wine wasn't cheap BUT good. I will go there again and recommend. The toilet was a surprise too!😀😊😂
I absolutely love this cafe. Away from the churn of the drooling Dom tourists, but still accessible. Espresso, superb! Bread made in house! Desserts made in house! Delicious and refined.
