Decent enough place. Don't know why it's so highly rated really but I think that's down to vegan aspect. Dorm four bed room was dark, sheets kept coming off bed, pillow poor. Bathroom for ladies like a public toilet, flush didn't work in one toilet. Could do with an updating. Common area nice but it's not a patch on Penthouse 1004 and its the same price for a dorm room( 490).kitchen small and has limited hours for use due to staff cooking vegan dinner every night. Staff friendly.

We stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and decided on it due to its good ratings and its central location. Unfortunately we were not satisfied with our stay here. Double room was old and curtains were broken, mattress was old and felt rather like a hammock. Breakfast vegan and homemade (porridge, marmeldade, bread)-depends on personal taste - we decided the second day on breakfast around the corner. We were not able to pay by credit card (only cash or paypal) although advertised. Location is very good.

    - insane vegans, they dont feed their cat/s meat!
    - highly unsanitary bathrooms. the shower and toilets are cms away with no privacy (i had to listen to some guy do diarrhoea as i was showering!)
    - noisy at night when you're trying to sleep (even up to 3am)
    - owners will stare and you rudely if you dont brown nose them
    - drugs were being used

    + reasonably comfortable beds
+ wi-fi was fast and reliable enough
+nice view in one of the rooms
    +option of free dinners
+good location (noisy though at night)
+despite rudeness the owners could be helpful

overall okay but wouldn't recommend if you're not into the whole dirty communal thing and are uncomfortable with people who abuse their pets and use drugs.

Outrageous kitchen policy. We started cooking at 5:15, only to be told at 5:50 that the kitchen is closed for staff to cook group dinner, we would. They said it would close at 6, but wouldn't let us finish cooking. We had to wait until 8:30 before being able to use it again. Breakfast was good, porridge and peanut butter

Great atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, good breakfast (real (!) coffee, tea, and all homemade peanut butter, jam, bread, and coconut milk oatmeal). They cook up cheap and delicious veggie communal dinners every night, which go a long way towards creating such a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Kitchen is well-stocked for cooking. Oreille, the resident kitten, is irresistibly cute, to the point of inducing people to wait in turns to cuddle her.

Great place with awesome staff. Does need some maintenance, but overall great location. Still should bring ear plugs as its near the bars. Bed and room was super comfy! Love the eco friendly things they are trying to do

I had a great four day stay at 41 below. The atmosphere is perfect for a solo traveler since there are communal dinners every night that allow you to meet fellow guests and the staff. I fell ill towards the end of the stay and the staff was so helpful, bringing me extra blankets and tea. It is also very centrally located. I highly recommend this hostel!

Super friendly vibe, very informative employees, comfortable and warm beds, great wifi connection for working or travel planning. What more do you need in a hostel? Also go right around the corner for a steak dinner at Alto del Fuego, Best steak I've ever had. Manush down the street has delicious cheesy pizzas and some of the best beer in Bariloche.

Great hostel, plenty of friendly people and they can provide all meals if you want as long as you like vegetarian which they do very well. Good rooms, good hot showers, close location to all the main things in town. Can help you organise ski trips to Cerro Catedral. Loved my stay here
