After taking photos from up and down there is also possibility to drive to another side of the river and look at the falls from the hotel that is being rebuilt now. For this exit town Calandula, cross the bridge, take left to Lombe/Malanje at Y-junction. In third village take left. Road is clearly seen on Google map in satellite mode. If you decide to walk down the waterfall from main view point, you dont really need a guide. Path is very clear, however its starting point is hiding in the bushes on ur right before coming to main parking. It is possible to drive there, but be prepared to be asked for "security fee" from local guys)))

Is a beautiful place ro visit, not very touristic. I will recommend to hire a guide, the will jump at you as soon as you arrived with the car. Make clear which one you have chosen or they will argue. They will guide you thru a narrow and steep path to get to the river and see the fall from above. And if you want to go further they will help you thru a slippery/muddy track to go almost to the bottom of the fall. It is not for everyone and we did the last bit bare food. It is worthy
But it took us 6 hours from Luanda. The road is very bad, without much signs and full of holes.
