The Skanderbeg Square (Albanian: Sheshi Skënderbej) is the main plaza in the centre of Tirana, Albania. The square is named after the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu. The total area is about 40.000 square metres. The Skanderbeg Monumentdominates the square.
During the Italian invasion of Albania, the city plan for Tirana was designed by Florestano Di Fausto and Armando Brasini in a Neo-Renaissance style with articulate angular solutions and giant order fascias.

Many buildings including the Tirana International Hotel, the Palace of Culture, the National Opera, the National Library, the National Bank, the Ethem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the City Hall, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy, and the National Historical Museum are situated at the square.

They just opened the new huge square - it is too big, it has nothing special . The statue of Skanderbeg is nice, so is the large mural from the communist time, but the square itself has no character.

From my point if view it's a stupid place. Extra big almost empty square with artificial rivers on it. Very strange! Can not understand what to do on it?
Entrance to parking is very tidy and not comfortable for big cars.

The main Tirana square. Maybe not plenty of relevant cultural attractions, but it's clean, big and it's enjoyable to walk there. Very interesting and pleasant the nearness between a bell tower and a minaret.
